Bellamy at Oregon ...

Seriously? Who cares.

Hell, I'd much rather have my daughter getting high with football players in someones apartment than getting sloshed at a bar. (not excluding one from the other...just what the picture shows)

Those two aren't mutually exclusive activities....guarantee you they get plastered at the bars also.....

Honestly I dont know why schools/NFL even care their players smoke weed? It's not performance enhancing.

Because it's mostly illegal. They also don't want their players stealing, committing brank fraud, speeding, DUI, pyramid scheming, jaywalking, etc.

Nothing to do with the performance aspect, just that the NFL doesn't want its players to break the law and punishes players for misdemeanors and felonies accordingly.

Looks like some football players, whores and a bong.

Those girls daddies are real proud today. Smoking weed with football players. Real classy girls right there.

Which part is low class, the weed or the football players?

So you equate a victimless crime to those which directly affect another person?

You know dam well that smoking weed is no worse than drinking alcohol.

It's a lot worse, in that you can get arrested for weed but not just drinking alcohol. That's kind of the whole point; they don't want their players to get arrested.

That's exactly the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that pic. Can you home college your kids in today's world?

One of the things I have impressed upon my daughter over the years is to not do anything now that you will be embarrassed or humiliated about later....this is one of those cases....

O rly? Think back about football players getting arrested...on the flats, in atjens, anywhere. Alcohol presents a far bigger threat to your roster than weed.

This is college. Most of the kids dont drink alcohol in moderation. Heavy binge drinking is far more likely to lead to trouble with the law (for something or the other) than marijuana. Second, its a lot easier for a cop to look the other way (like the gtpd with regards to students smoking weed) than it is to ignore the reckless behavior that often results from excessive alcohol consumption.

Bottom line, Id tell my daughter to stay out of the picture next time. Theres a reason sorority girls at tech hide drinks when they pose. As long as society still freaks out over stuff like this you have to do something to hide it. (Until you get to an age where you dont have to care what the next fella thinks)

I really don't think this is that embarrassing or humiliating if you are one of those girls. It is really only embarrassing for the idiot who put the pictures on twitter.

i think drinking underage is just as illegal

I wasn't taking a stance on whether either is bad, but instead stating the obvious - the NFL punishes players for breaking the law. It also tries to rehab its player's by making them take substance abuse classes. It has nothing to do with my personal feelings on the subject but instead is a professional association that has general rules against its players breaking the law.

The NFL doesn't really care if the crimes have victims. Just that they are crimes and that they have public relations ramifications.

I think he was getting at the point that it's worse in that any consumption is an arrestable offense in most places, whereas with alcohol consumption alone, without something else (e.g. public intox, open container in certain circumstances, dui, underage, etc) won't result in an arrest.

“We were leaving some apartments, and a couple of girls wanted to take a picture with us. So we were in their room for like 30 seconds. I didn’t even know the (bong) as in the picture. After I tweeted out (the picture), I started getting all kinds of text messages. Then I looked closely at the picture, and I was like ‘What?’ I deleted the picture, but it was already out there.”

Anyone believing this one?

What was the reaction from the Oregon coaches? “They understood. But … these girls on college campuses, they probably know more about the recruits than the coaches do. Once they saw me, they wanted to take pictures with me and the other recruits. But like I said, the coaches understood. It wasn’t in a football player’s room. It was just girls that wanted pictures with us.”

Is thirty seconds all it took?
