2014 schedule

I'm not too worried about the DL. Gotsis is a beast, Kallon is good, Shawn Green is a big body (not to sure how good he is), but he did get a pick in Clemson two years ago.

That wouldn't help. Though hitting the reset button in a year when you're probably going to lose 5-6 games at best anyway isn't the worst idea in the world.

Our fans ... I tell ya what. Just :eekfacepalm:

We'll definitely know CPJ's fate next year one way or the other. Recruiting is going to get much more difficult until he gets an extension or he gets fired and we bring in someone else. Don't think you'll have a lot of kids excited to commit to a coach who has 2 years (or less) left on a contract.

Edit: I know full and well we're already approaching that territory with recruiting now, but it'll only get worse if it isn't already.

I don't think there's much doubt about '14 being do-or-die for CPJ. However, I'll be curious to see what will happen if we end up scoring a whole ton of points but our defense fails to improve upon this year. I could see 8-4 with a top 15 offense and a meh defense.

We absolutely have to get to 6-0 at home. CPJ has hurt himself this year by blowing the two biggest home games this year. Both VT and UGa had loud Tech crowds. Those are the people who haven't thrown up their hands on his program. We were flat and un inspired against VT on O. We lost a game that was absolute made for the spread option against UGa. Both of those games were failures on Johnson's O when it counted. He has got to fix that.

Even with the same record as this year, which would mean a worse acc record, Johnson would stave off some heat by beating Clemson and Miami.

Those games may be pretty winnable depending on NFL declarations.

Hell Duke may be the toughest home game on the slate. They return everyone on offense and all but one on defense I believe.

Is this correct? If so I see a good possibility of 9-3. We will be the team with the experienced QB against VT, Miami, NC, Clemson, and UGA unlike previous seasons.

LOL, anybody that sees something besides 7-5 is trying on a whole rack of gold colored glasses.

Why? Subbing out a game we lost for someone that is way worse is a pretty simple path to 8-4.

because it requires not believing that the team is a raging dumpster fire under Paul Johnson, which apparently can only be done via gold-colored glasses.

Yep, we are a complete dumpster fire, without hope of improving. We beat the top coastal team (Duke) this year and the top coastal team (UNC) last year. We are on our third consecutive winning conference season, matched by no one in the coastal.

We aren't great, but we aren't down to Chan levels yet.

7-5 with a possible loss to GA Southern; losses to the other big 4.

if we do lose to GA Southern than 6-6

this team will have MAJOR problems on the OL and DL

Remember, the OL will have 3 starters gone (4 if you include the fact bailey is a wuss), one of which is a center. That is big..considering the guys behind them looked like dog crap this year and we still have sewak. And there were a bunch of OL backups that got NO PT this year due to injury. Another depth setback

The DL loses 3. This is big...and the fact we only played shawn green in backup vs UGA on the DL shows you HOW BAD the backups really are. Even the young guys are too young...you need years at DL to be good. No Depth at all.

Paul has done a horrible job recruiting the lines 3 and 4 years ago. And we will pay the price next year.

I do believe last years class and this years class has good line prospects...just too young...

Candidly, I see a really struggling year next year.

I can't think of one team that loses 3-4 OL and 3 DL in one year and IMPROVES the next year outside what? Bama? Maybe LSU but I doubt it. It never happens at tech. Ever

Just when I thought you couldn't invest in anymore butthurt futures, you prove me wrong. It will be interesting to see what changes to the staff PJ makes in the offseason particularly with Sewak. Typically I would agree with you on the oline, but Beno and Will Jackson have played so poorly this year, I have to think we will improve. The potential to be great along the DLine is there moreso than it has been in other years.

How do you know Kallon is good? If he were so good wouldn't he have played more this year? Coaches usually put their best players on the field. Green is just a space filler as far as I'm concerned. I've seen nothing special from him either.

Games are won and lost on the line. The OL and DL will be the same or worse next year. The talent replacing the guys leaving isn't much better and the guys who have more talent have way less experience. The coaching staff said this year's OL was the best one yet, so to me this is as good as it gets with the guys they recruit.

Who's VPI's quarterback next year?

Not only who is their QB, but who is their RB? VT is in a slow decline, we should have beat them this year and should beat them next year.

Replace:
CU, UM, UGA, VT
With:
CU, UM, UGA, Duke/UNC
