Guys-

CPJ will definitely not be the head coach for the '15 season. Next year yes due to contract considerations, but not '15. We'll win another 6-7 games tops next year but will lose the games that really count, as usual. It's painfully obvious that big boy talent and speed + time to prepare will 99% of the time beat a high school offense with lesser talent. The record speaks for itself. 'Nuff said. (One more thing- am I the only one who finds this offense incredibly BORING?)

So, the question is, is Tech motivated to hire a guy who can recruit and coach while at the same time not make us compete with one hand tied behind our back due to academic restrictions. If the answer is no to either question, then we should pack it up and go home cause we're never going to get to the promised land.

Don't think the coach matters when the school is doing everything in its power to handicap the coach. We have multiple problems. Coach is just one and at this point he isn't the biggest problem.

This.

Paul called a öööö game today but a coaching change is not going to make us competitive against the UGA's, FSU's, and VT's of the world even one year out of five.

Umm, did you read the second part of my post?

Nah, Chad Morris steps in and solves all our problems day 1.

I certainly agree.

However, PJ is starting to look really old, really often for quite a few games now against real competition.

I don't care for his style of football but as a Tech fan, I can deal with it. However, I can not deal with a coach who can not play from behind. He either gets on top and wins, or falls behind and loses. I just don't find his style to be particularly entertaining accordingly.

But it is what it is. We are officially an Ivy League school allowing walkons an opportunity to play D1 football. And we will never see another guy like Attochu.

I find our players boring not the offense.

In answer to your second paragraph, the Hill seems to be trying to be less douchey but only just enough to not seem like they are trying to completely screw over our athletics programs.

CPJ will likely survive next year - should win against Wofford, Tulane and Ga Southern, on the road at NC State, and at home against UVA and Duke. Only has to get one more win, say at VPI, Pitt, or UNC to get 7. However, with trading BYU for Tulane, 8-4 next year would be equivalent to this year's 7-5.

He will be fired after 2015 if he does not get better by then. That year he travels to Miami, Notre Dame, and Clemson and plays UGA, UNC, Pitt, VPI and FSU at home. That will be the year he has to have a pretty good team to go 6-6.

If he'd hire an OC and switch to an offense that blocks and throws the ball occassionally, he could compete in two years. But it's not happening. We are graduating our boys after all.

Try and follow the logic of this post.

1. Let's say the top 20% of FBS schools is the "promised land." This is 20 schools or so who have the top 20 in consistent success. So that means Florida would be on there, but Baylor may not be depending on their long-term success.

2. The other 90 schools who aren't in the "promised land" drop their program, because they won't be in the promised land and this is the logical thing to do, according to your post.

3. The top 4 schools of those 20 are now the new promised land. Repeat step 1 until there is no competition at all, because it's not possible for more than one team to be the #1 team.

I think there could be steps done to take GT from #40 or so among programs to #20 - #30, but even with some slackening of academic restrictions, we do not have the sheer supply of fans and money for facilities, coaches and paying players (and their family and coaches) to reach that "promised land." And if that was every fan's standard for every team, then there would be no competition.

Did Chan Gailey's offense "block and throw the ball occasionally?"

Thing for me is...I accepted that we were to expect 8 wins and not get embarrassed as long as CPJ is here. That is the game Radikovich put us in. They thought we could not compete going after the same recruits so they quit. Now those recruits don't even care if we win, per CPJ.

I made myself accept 8 wins and never get embarrassed as long as CPJ was here, cause that is what the hill wants. That has not happened the last two years. Even the hill has to see we are starting to get embarrassed nationally on the field. Maybe that is what they want, Harvard 7 days a week and not just 6.

You are reading to much into the comment as played up by the Lou and the boys of TV.

I can take 7-8 wins a year as long as we are competitive generally in our losses with the occasional upset win against a ranked team. A win against UGA about 33% of the time would be great too, but I don't think any coach could win at that rate with the current disparity in talent.

By far the biggest problem I have with this scheme is all of the fears of not being able to recruit have come true. Our best players on offense are a walk on and a baseball player. Slow, small players make any scheme hard to watch. Hell, I'd even take Chan back rather than watch this triple option eye sore now. At least we will get to see some athletes on the field.

I don't listen to Lou and the boys. I read into it on my own as soon as it was said I thought that says a lot about our situation. We don't compete for the same kids as programs that are serious about football. I have been watching it since CPJ got here. It is what we signed up for when we hired him. We gave up on those kids. Now it shows even more.

Anyway, he doesn't give a öööö about anything but proving people are wrong about his system, so he doesn't care if the kids care about losing a game. He does not care. He just wants to prove he is smarter than everyone, and that ain't happening anymore.

There is a very good chance we lose to one of Tulane or Georgia Southern

This might be the dumbest statement anyone has made on this board since yesterday's game. Congrats.

Tulane lost to Syracuse by 35 points earlier this year. And they lost to UTSA and FAU.

Georgia Southern is Georgia Southern.
