Big 12 Expansion

One wonders how happy Nebraska is being in the B1G now that they've expanded eastward and the Huskers are stuck in the division without OSU, Michigan, or Penn State. (I guess they got Iowa and Wisky). Perhaps Bowlsby should try to get them back.

However, I don't see why TAMU would leave the Chosen-conference-of-all-conferences and go back to the BigTeXasII unless they really started to suck again and started to long for their old rivalries.

They should be pretty happy. They are in a division they can actually win...

Agree that it's BYU then a big drop off.

Agree with calling their ex-girlfriend and groveling, but Nebraska was abused too long to fall for it IMHO.

Agree that not getting Louisville looks dumb in hindsight. Would be the 2nd best option.

Disagree with the UCF bashing. They are stuck with a directional label, but they are the 2nd biggest school which is tough to ignore and trips to Orlando can't hurt recruiting for anybody. They are way out of the geography, but WVU is too and that was a good pickup for them IMHO.

Not that I can decide on team 2. Cincy pairs well with WVU. They all have strengths and weaknesses.

Oh, and AnM is not happening. Not even worth a dime to make a courtesy call to confirm the no.

BYU and Colorado State. Get the big game atmosphere from BYU and the Denver market from Colorado State.

Here's why I wouldn't reach for the Texas teams:
Texas
aTm
TCU
TTU
Baylor
Houston
SMU

That's a crowded state, right there.

When the B12 had to replace TAMU and Mizzou, they really tried to find someone other than TCU since that wasn't going to help expand their geographic footprint. In the end it made too much sense so they extended an invite. I just dont see an appetite for anymore texas teams in that conference.

The most likely candidates are UCF, USF, Cincy, Memphis, or Boise St.

TAMU was little brother until it joined the SEC. Suddenly Texas is in the shadow. No way in hades TAMU wants to be little bro again.

I would add BYU and Colorado State for the reasons already mentioned. Realistically they will probably add SMU and Houston. You are talking about a guy that claimed "One True Champion" the whole year then had no tie breaker in place and also was clueless to the value of the Conference Championship Game model.

Yes adding the Texas schools doesn't increase footprint or tv sets but it is the easy way out and this Bowlsby clown has showed me nothing that he can do anything but take the easy way out. They should look into firing him and finding someone competent before they expand.

It was worse than having no tiebreaker. They did have a tiebreaker, at least for the bowl rep, but chose to ignore it. ESPN made a nice mockery of it at some point on the day, they put the whole tiebreaker procedure on the screen and pointed out that head to head was the first rule .

1-BYU (no brainer)
2-Cincy, Colorado St, San Diego St or Fresno St (whichever has best combo of alumni and TV market)

BYU is a major pain. You have to adjust your schedules in ALL sports to accommodate their refusal to play on Sundays.

Well, 9 of the teams in the league are used to accommodating a p.i.t.a. member.

Question is are they in a position to be picky?

Smart as we are, yall should know it's about money, which is eyeballs that watch, which means the Florida option will be considered, and no others.

Not Texas schools or East Tennessee schools nor Tulane nor others.

Tampa + Orlando equals the #5 TV market in a State that loves Football.

Recruiting hot bed is a plus. If you live in Iowa, where do you want a weekend? Memphis & Houston? Or Tampa & Orlando.

16 teams will not be considered. Have to give up too much money to BYU & Boise with no eyeball revenue.

Is our pipeline to Florida over?

I think you may be right but Cincy would help connect the conference. Personally I think the ACC should tie up USF. They will become a power one day.
