JHD with us yes or no?

If he is not eligable for the OB, where does he then stand as regards the spring, fall, or rest of his career?

Any correlation?

Nope, he'll be a senior next year and get his scholarship back assuming he gets the grades in the spring.

I think he'd still be able to participate in spring practice if he was able to play on the scout team this fall.

Sorry for not totally understanding but, how could he play in OB if we are still assuming he will have to make his grades in the spring?

Is it based on each individual semester in his case?

Or are you strictly talking about his ship, not his eligibility to play?

I think he was talking about the conditional case where he did not make the grades this currently ending semester.

To get his eligibility back, he needs to do whatever academically necessary right now.

To keep his eligibility for fall 15, he needs to continue doing whatever necessary in spring 15.

I'd honestly be shocked if he wasn't academically eligible. You know he hates having missed out on a special season.

If he ain't with us...he's against us.

I'm all for guys pushing through adversity, but I don't understand the conviction that putting JHD back on the field is a major improvement. Why are people so convinced that a guy who lost his starting position will excel at one in which he's never played?

Citing a coach or player saying he's "blowing it up" in practice is not going to convince me. I've heard that song a million times only to see the guy flop come game time.

He was starting until he failed to make grades, right?

Yes, it's a new position for him, but he was (initially) moved in the same way JA was, and that worked well for us.

Don't think so. I believe he lost it towards the tail end of one season and then they moved him to DL the following spring.

The chatter hasn't been that he's been blowing it up on scout team. The chatter is that he's the best defensive player on the team regardless of position.

If that's what he's become in the last year, then great. He certainly wasn't that before his academic issues hit. Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it. Worst-to-first is rare.

He moved to DE when Roof made the call to run more of a 4-2-5, where he wouldn't really fit in as a linebacker. Now, at 270+ he has the size, strength, and quickness to be special on the DL (which we could most definitely use).

I think the same distractions that lead to his fall from starting are what messed up his academics. He seems like he really got his mind right though. I hope he gets to play in the bowl game. I believe if he does you'll have a shoe to eat.

I believe the last weight I saw on JHD was 288. I think he's just been packing on the muscle.

When was he ever worst? I believe he was the leading tackler on the team in '12 as a frosh in a 3-4. He fell off as a sophomore as a 250 lb LB in a new 4-3 scheme. They moved him to DE in spring '14 because he was the only guy on the team the coaches felt could fill Attaochu's pass rush production, and that's when he hit the grades issue. At no point was a bad player. He was one of our best til he got caught in a scheme change.
