The Patriots: A deflating story

Same balls would have been used by Indy and it sure as öööö didn't help them any.

This is retarded. I guess they have to investigate if it happened, but who really cares? Did the deflated balls give Blount SEC speed?

No, but the Patriots secretly filmed the ball deflating and watched it at halftime, tucking the film away before they were caught.

I still refuse to believe that Belichick is a genius.

Brady, yes, Belichick, no.

who do you think figured out the tackle-eligible trick the way the ran the substitution, Brady or Belichick? Brady is a great executer, but Belichick is a rules-skirting genius

Brady, yes, Belichick, no.

All you need to see is the season Brady got hurt for the year to see the Patriots are more coaching than Brady. They still had double digit wins that year.

Maybe it was done later in the second half. I would think a ball with less air in it would be easier to hold on to. Less likely to fumble.

But if the Patriots knew they would be deflated they could have practiced with them throughout the week while the Colts were expecting regulation balls.

And missed the playoffs.

The AFC East has been dog öööö for 15 years. Belichick is a good coach, but Brady is IMO the best QB of all time. Without Brady, Belichick was awful.

If Brady has to sit a series, his offense doesn't become a smoldering crater the way Peyton's does. Peyton sitting a season at Denver put any comparisons to rest.

Cassell was an NFL caliber starter as a backup though. Manning a backup wasn't.

Brady > Manning and it isn't even close anymore

It hasn't been close since Brady won his third ring. Brady is easily the best QB in the game today. Except Russel Wilson, who is now 10-0 in his career in both the regular and post season against superbowl winning QBs. troyolo

This is all true. Having a pathetic conference to play in each year gets you a huge advantage over everyone else. For the most part, the rest of the competition is from the AFC North (Ravens, Steelers, Bengals) who never have a better record overall. Accordingly the Pats always have home field advantage. See how the Colts, a team designed for indoor use, just was not in their league up in NE.

Belichek ran the tackle eligible three times, each time changing up how they told the head official, or at what time (once was seconds before the snap where the defense could not respond, once it was reported by a different player on the other side of the line, etc.)

I don't blame Belichek for pushing the rules as far as he can, but something about tackle eligible plays never sat right with me. How is the defense supposed to know the receiver is eligible when only the officials are told?

11-5 was awful? What adjective do you reserve for coaches whose teams don't have a winning percentage of .6875?
