"Yellow britches" is a term used in the 60's to affectionately refer to our team. There was even a cheer by our cheer leaders. Don't remember exactly all the words but it went something like this: GOOO YELLOW BRITCHES, BEAT THOSE SONS OF BITCHES



It's one reason I still like our tradtional Gold, white, gold unis.

Thanks Bogey, we do have a bunch of youngsters on this board who know nothing about traditions. For instance, if you refered to "rat caps" they would scratch their balls and ask, "what the hell is that about".

no, i wore a rat-cap when i was a freshman. i still have it too.

but anyone that uses "britches" after the 80s for Georgia Tech should be seriously questioned as to their loyalties. because NOONE talks about the Jackets as the yellow-britches; and britches is exclusively used for our biggest rival, who call themselves the 'silver britches'

sometimes there are things in the past for a reason. like, it was a stupid thing. yellow britches sounds stupid, and yellowbritchies sounds like a troll, especially when coupled by the words posted which are typically negative to the Jackets and something about Georgie

No. Most younger fans will roll their eyes and think you're a band nerd if you start talking about rat caps.

They still give them to all incoming freshmen, but the only people to wear them are in the marching band
 
They didn't give me a rat cap. I wouldn't have worn it, but I still wish they'd have given me one.
