Is anyone worried about other teams looking at game film and seeing his performance. I saw numerous times where he was burned on coverage. Luckily nothing fell for the ND passing game, but they picked on him most of the day, and the receivers were open. Is his injury affecting his speed, or can we expect this weakness throughout the season?

Well, the only question mark on our team has changed from KO coverage to backup corner. I'd say we're in pretty good shape.

If Clark can't get it done then there are several folks that think Reese or Butler can.

I would assume Word-Daniels will not play this weekend, maybe Pat can get in much more practice throughout the week and some more game time vs Samford.

ND were obviously picking on him. And it was working. With a better QB (aka Matt Ryan) and a better O Line (aka BC) they could really exploit that weakness.

pat looked BAD. i'd like to see reese or butler get an oppurtunity saturday.

Pat Clark is not playing well to start. Putting a freshman in at this point would be better. Play Burnett at CB. Seriously. Burnett isn't a CB but we need someone who is a player there. Pat isn't it.

We have had a problem in the past with Cornerbacks named Clark getting torched. Go ask Jamara.

It's interesting watching Pat play. He looks hesistant to me, like he sees what's happening but doesn't react right away. Wonder how much of it is fear of getting burned? Corners have to be fearless.

I don't think he has the speed to play CB. He was giving big cushions and still getting outrun.

That's kind of my question knox. Is it speed or reaction? It doesn't matter how fast you are if you don't run. On a couple of the balls they caught in front of him it looked like he saw the WR making the break but instead of breaking with him, he hesistated. I really don't know how his pure speed stacks up.

It could have easily been 33-10 if Sharpley hadnt overthrown that one pass.

that wr was wide open

Yeah, I'm concerned about him, too. I liked what I saw from Reese in the 4th quarter, though, so hopefully he or Butler can step up.

I know that a "head injury" is reported for Jahi, but this could be extremely serious or very minor. Does anyone have word on how bad his injury is? Also, since he is probably sitting out for Samford, is it just a precaution because we should win this game and not because he really just can't play.

Based upon my diagnosis skills on an HDTV, it looked like he might just have a concussion. It didn't seem super serious or I would think they would have taken him off in a neck brace on a stretcher or something. Anyway, I would think that he's just out this week as a precautionary measure to give that extra time to heal (esp. since we're playing Samford). Just my best guess.

"just" a concussion can be serious. Hopefully not, but we'll have to wait and see.

Wow BOR I agree with you 100% Burnett is who I think should get job. Clark just does not have the speed.

Good opinions given. After watching the game about 4 times on Tivo, I am afraid of him starting at the CB spot. Any team w/ time to throw will definetly take it at him every chance they get.

I think you guys should give Pat Clark a break. He was just back practicing with the team, wasn't he?

I am not selling the ranch on him yet, but last week scared me if that is what is to be expected. We will see next week if he looks better, but speed is speed.

Tampa, he proved last year he couldn't cover as everytime they put him in the game and gave him a chance , he gave them another reason to bench him. He was at one point the starter last year, and then got benched permanently. After that he came in for relief duty and then would end up back on the bench.

Based on various practice reports, PC is a solid nickel CB. I don't know that he can step up and be a solid outside corner or not, but I would wager that some of his sluggishness is due to the time he missed dealing with the academic issues that plagued him the last few weeks. It looked to me that he was trying to anticipate the receiver too much and guessed wrong on several occasions. I expect that with more practice and time on the field this weekend, he will stabilize and start looking more comfortable. We have some talented youngsters behind him who will be pushing him hard in the next two weeks. If the coaches still think I that time that PC is the best option, I will be satisfied. I will be interested to see if CJT runs a little more zone in the secondary over the next couple games. I sorta doubt it, but it would be an indication of what his comfort level is with the defensive secondary.
