The one creep was penalized and tossed (deservedly) for a blow to the head.

This scumbag Zbikowski was even worse but never got caught. On Bebe's 1st down catch in the 1st quarter, he comes in at the end and stomps on Rhodes (and then runs away like a chicken) and on the blocked field goal he takes a cheap shot at Travis Bell after he recovers the ball. (He also made a helmet-to-helmet hit on Greg Smith after his long 1st quarter catch, but nothing that you would expect to be called except by Yankee refs for a hit on Brady Quinn.)

I haven't even finished watching the replay to see what else this thug was up to.

I guess that's why NBC covered the entire game from what appeared to be an blimp camera, to make those things harder to see. :P

In all seriousness, I spent a lot of the game angry because of the numerous blatant and pointless pushes to the head by the Irish. I didn't come into this with a pre-conceived notion that ND was dirty, but I left feeling like at least some of them are.

Zbikowski's only real talent is that he's a dumb meathead who is an average boxer that also plays college football. The guy couldn't start for the majority of D-1 teams. He's slow and overrated.

Maybe it's just me but it doesn't really look that bad to me. The worst part is him running away like a puskatore.

Dude, the guy jabbed his foot toward Thomas. If you don't believe it's bad based on the video, all you need to know is it was obvious our lineman standing there thought it was dirty cause he pointed at him as he ran away with his tail between his legs.

There was also a play where ND's defensive player clearly punched our player in the face in a pileup. The replays didn't show the play clearly enough -- did anyone else spot that?

I'm just saying...you hear any stories about old school players like Butkus and Nitchske and other guys from that era and stuff like that (and worse) happened in the pile all the time.

Anyway, it's a tough game and if he has to resort to stuff like that it will surely get back to him.

eh... here are my thoughts on the game:

Brown deserved the 15 yard penalty... but ejection? come on now.... that type of penalty is commonplace now. i think the ejection was way over the top, but the penalty was justifiable.

and, you are wrong about Zbikowski... his only talent is disappearing faster than david copperfield. there was a lot of off-season talk about his improvement, but it was just all blabber. he's still overrated. and, yeah, zbi has been known to have a bad attitude -- i wouldn't expect anything else from him than what he did. he's been flagged for it in the past.

ND is not full of thugs, though. you see a lot of extracurricular activity in games... i think some of you guys are beginning to nitpick. Brown -- stupid penalty that didnt deserve ejection. Zbikowski -- always has a bad attitude (i will agree with you guys there). but, almost everythign else you saw in that game is common in all football games.

If this guy plays in the next league and does this crap I'll assure you that he will be taken out by the opponent.

i think he does it because nobody is dumb enough to stand up to him. his strength is on par with everyone else on the field, but he has a decisive advantage from his boxing background. this would carry over. i agree that he should work on his attitude, but i doubt that an NFL player would take him out since he has all of the technique and training in hand-to-hand combat.

I was under the understanding that a blow to someone's head is an automatic ejection, no matter what. I don't think this was a judgment call by the officials.

A bigger issue for ND is their DL depth that made Brown's ejection such a problem.

When your screaming in pain on the ground holding your knee or ankle I assure you his boxing skills won't come into play, trust me!

Not to mention in the NFL you're dealing with a bunch of guys who are all (aside from QBs and Ks) at least as mean and tough as Zbi. And most probably have some sort of martial art training to help with discipline and flexibility. I doubt there are many folks that would be intimidated by him whatsoever.

Got to agree with Contact and the ND guy. It's football. If this were soccer or chess, I could see being upset over some pushing, etc. The nature of the sport creates this atmosphere. Get used to seeing it. We only see it more now due to the 45 camera angles used in a game.

That's ridiculous. We are not talking about a blocking skirmish gone bad, we are talking about a jerk who runs over to a pile he had nothing to do with and starts taking cheap shots at our guys. Somebody needs to step on your nuts once in a while if you think it's so cute.

Stuff like that happens in the pile - and usually doesn't get caught. It's not right, it's not sportsmanlike but it does happen and as long as you have aggressive, mean people playing the sport it's going to continue. I'd be surprised if GT has never had anyone to play a little dirty...

I don't believe the word "cute" was ever used, but we can talk like little school-girls if you want to. By the way, they make cups for a reason. Keep telling yourself football is non-contact sport. Certain things are unacceptable, but many others are standard.

You must have loved it when the Clemson and South Carolina guys were kicking each other in the face - what great football!
