Love Pruitt so much? They are ALL saying on their boards that losing Pruitt, no matter who the HC is, would be the "worst-case scenario." Now I know that he is an excellent recruiter, but if he's such a great coach why don't they just promote him? Some are saying they're actually worried about hiring Smart because they might lose Pruitt (potentially to Bama).
Am I missing something?
I know that they've got a really good defense this year- 8th in total defense, top 10 in a lot of important categories- but Bama is better than them this year in nearly every category. Why are they so concerned about losing Pruitt if they're gaining Smart?
Some stats:
UGA has the 48th ranked rushing defense. Alabama has the 1st.
UGA has the 1st ranked pass defense. Alabama has the 16th.
UGA is apparently blessed with a great secondary, but Pruitt didn't really even bring them in.
UGA has allowed 16.9 ppg this season- good enough for 10th- but think about these numbers: 38, 38, 27. Alabama, Tennessee, Florida. Were they not ready to play? Did they just have some weak competition the rest of the way? (For the record, Alabama is 3rd with 14.3 ppg).
I just don't understand the sentiment that losing Pruitt = end of the world, even if they get Kirby Smart?
