Love Pruitt so much? They are ALL saying on their boards that losing Pruitt, no matter who the HC is, would be the "worst-case scenario." Now I know that he is an excellent recruiter, but if he's such a great coach why don't they just promote him? Some are saying they're actually worried about hiring Smart because they might lose Pruitt (potentially to Bama).

Am I missing something?

I know that they've got a really good defense this year- 8th in total defense, top 10 in a lot of important categories- but Bama is better than them this year in nearly every category. Why are they so concerned about losing Pruitt if they're gaining Smart?

Some stats:

UGA has the 48th ranked rushing defense. Alabama has the 1st.

UGA has the 1st ranked pass defense. Alabama has the 16th.

UGA is apparently blessed with a great secondary, but Pruitt didn't really even bring them in.

UGA has allowed 16.9 ppg this season- good enough for 10th- but think about these numbers: 38, 38, 27. Alabama, Tennessee, Florida. Were they not ready to play? Did they just have some weak competition the rest of the way? (For the record, Alabama is 3rd with 14.3 ppg).

I just don't understand the sentiment that losing Pruitt = end of the world, even if they get Kirby Smart?

His defensive strategy should have been horrible against us. We just couldn't execute. They played two deep safeties all game. We had numbers. I think he just played in safe mode against us knowing that we have not demonstrated the ability to sustain a drive this season. Keep back a bit, stop the big breakaway plays was what they did. Wait for us to screw up. Most of our CPJ teams up to now would have eaten that öööö up.

You're absolutely right. It was frustrating to say the least, but I digress...

They literally are saying if Pruitt leaves, the program will turn to öööö. Recruits will be gone and he will be gone... But how is that true if you're getting THE best DC in the game?

I've wondered this as well, they are both successful DC's but you actually know more about Pruitt's coaching ability, whereas Smart may just be a Saban puppet. why not just promote Pruitt instead of hire Smart? I personally think either one is going to be a freaking disaster, Pruitt is a ticking timebomb, and with Smart how often does bringing a alum home to be the head-coach work out?

They aren't hiring Smart to be their DC, duh!

The inbreds are obsessing over losing Pruitt as a DC, because it's their first D worth a öööö since VanGorder. Now they may get Bmfer instead.

Then it looks like you're in the wrong ööööing thread, huh? Dumb öööö.

No child (isn't it nap time) because to nerd losers such as yourself, your idea of beating ugag is to do it on the Internet. Not on the field.

It is the perfect thread - you being such a smart fenoit - now give us our stats SFB.

Be sweet with the other kiddies.

I'm undefeated against Georgia on the internet. And like McWhorter, I've never lost to Georgia on the field either, öööö, maybe I should be the head coach!

More concerned with our D stats & rankings.

What? Why would I reflect on our D's stats & rankings? I will not reflect any more than necessary on an awful season, even if it wasn't really the D's fault.

I will, however, rejoice at the potentially disastrous choice of our rival to fire their coach and balk at their silly notions that their DC is any better than Kirby Smart.

SEC offenses skewing their stats, lol.

Vandy, Florida, Mizzou, South Carolina .... all various stages of bad on offense this year. Plus, Georgia Southern isn't the most pass happy offense in the world, either. So that's five teams that either can't or don't throw the ball much or well for the Georgia defense to pad stats against.

Yeah, you're missing something. It's called balls. Why are you whining about Georgia öööö on a GT message board? Shut the öööö up !

After Willie Martinez and that d-bag who went to Louisville, Pruitt looks pretty good. But as others have mentioned, the mutts played against a lot of sad offenses this year.

Played against a lot of terrible (at best) offenses to be sure. But Pruitt got it done with much less talent on D than you guys realize. The Leonard Floyds are the exception. UGA D had the #1 pass defense--sort of a bogus stat, but the DBs were freshmen and a walk-on. ILBs were extremely subpar for the SEC. UAB transfer Jake Ganus, no blue chipper, came right in and started. DLs weren't exactly elite either. Tech game was a good example: you guys pushed us up and down the field easily but we'd either get the stop in the red zone or a turnover. Which has happened regularly the last couple of years. Smoke and mirrors. Having said all this--Pruitt is a loose cannon, to understate it. He'll be a headache wherever he coaches, including maybe again in Athens next year. I can't believe South Carolina is considering him.
