DANG!! West Point cancelled for '08......

Wow, wasn't sure if I was going to make that trip, but somewhat disappointing to see nevertheless.

Anyone have any ideas of a potential replacement currently on Dan's radar?

I sure hope we can at least get a mid-major opponent to come to BDS and not Samford or Football Championship Subdivision team. ( at least it sounds more powerful than "1-AA")

hmmm...not sure I get it...injuries are part of the game...playing two BCS teams back to back...won't increase it that much.

Ironically...we left that game more injured than they did

Watch everyone complain when we get stuck with a lackluster opponent.

Amazing quote from the Army AD:

"After evaluating the limited depth on our roster, we realize that playing consecutive games against schools from major conferences is not in the best interest of our program or our cadets," wrote Mr. Anderson. "Under similar circumstances in years past, our players have suffered numerous injuries that have threatened both their athletic and military careers."

That's a shame - I was really looking forward to making the trip.

I agree, a true shame. We too, were going to make the trip.

However, IMO, you really have to admire their dedication to service above athletics.

I just hope we don't have to go the Div. II opponent route --no Furman or UTC.

I'm peeved. Hosted a good friend and USMA grad at homecoming this year (along with 14 other family and friends), and was very much looking forward to visiting West Point next fall for the return trip.

We'll likely get stuck with a complete joke of an opponent as a result.

What a joke - less than 1 year from the game day (it was scheduled for 10/11/08) and they drop this on us. Hope their next D1A opponent takes this into consideration. I think the excuse is pure crap.

That said, this is not on the cadets - I respect these young men and women a tremendous amount. What they do for all of us is remarkable and they don't get enough credit for it (in my opinion).

GO JACKETS!!

With one already on the schedule, I'd be very surprised. We'll probably have to set up a 2 for 1 with another Mid Tenn State type team.

Lets go get a BE school next year or big 11 or 12 or whatever it is. Pitt, Syr, uconn, Rutgers.

I'll shoot myself if we schedule a loser.

Mayber we can get Buffalo?

(uh...the Bulls, not the Bills ;-)

They're playing 1-2 "biggies" on the road every year lately.

Penn state, Rutgers this year (ok...'Cuse, too) and have one at Mizzou on the schedule for next year.

I wasn't going to mention it but man would we have a great time up there. Can you say Canadian Ballet? Woohoooo!

I'm never one to make insults about our Military Academies, but this is a pure pussy move on their part.

We would never get a d2 opponent; those games don't count towards bowl eligibility. You're allowed one 1-AA game per year to count towards it, so I doubt we would neglect to use it.

EDIT: Missed CB's post... what D2 opponent do we have?

LOL!!....well, I was ACTUALLY thinking of us trying to get a 1-game deal with them for an '08 home game only....not a home-and-home.

I'm sure the shoe shows are excellent, however. ;-)
