Marcus Marshall??

Kid knew what he was signing up for when he came here. Had a chance to be great with Mills combo. I got zero use for this öööö.

Dedrick, Quaide, and Kirvonte will all be there with experience. Jerry Howard weighs 210 out of high school and could bust his redshirt if needed. Lands-Davis could move back from WR if needed, as we now have lots of young WRs to fill out that depth chart. Bruce could switch from LB in a crisis.

Take a deep breath. It's going to be OK.
Good point. We need to shore up the defensive line

For whatever reason, Marcus never felt good about the way his contribution was valued. I wish him well. He is a nice young man from a fine family. I am really sorry it did not work out for him to remain at Tech for the rest of his college career.

does he want to be the guy Charlie Strong ran 51 times in a game recently? The more carries you get, the more you get beat up and the more wear and tear on you before you go to the pros - or decide to have a normal life. I think he would benefit more from splitting carries with Mills or whoever it is in the long run.
His run, where he had three Mutts melting off him before Bellamy rode him down, on the last TD drive was a thing of beauty.

If MM wants to go to UGA, absolutely let him go. We need to how class like Richt did with JJ. Its not like UGA does not have several others as good or better. We will look like complete aholes if we try to block him.

I could swear that Richt had blocked someone from transferring to Tech prior to JJ transferring, but I don't remember who.

But why would it make us look like assholes? I mean, he could tell the ins and outs of how we do things behind closed doors and that could hurt us. Would you be fine with that?

I'm not advocating for either position. Personally, I think coaches should release players with minimal contingencies. I thought it was really decent of Richt to let JJ Green transfer to GT. However, strictly from a biased GT fan perspective (who's slightly butthurt at the moment) most kids that transfer aren't leading rushers for an FBS team, so I think that has to be taken into consideration by CPJ when he does release Marshall.
No need to be butthurt. We beat Georgia.

This blows my mind. Who has starting QBs and RBs transfer other than us??? Freaking lame. He was the lightning to Mills' thunder. We are a much better offense with both of them playing. If he's leaving, then he should sit for the bowl to give PT to a future contributor.

I would let him go wherever. As good as he was for us, he wont crack the rotation at UGA. Hell, maybe allowing that will lead to some goodwill on a transfer down the road from ole Kirby Fart...doubt it.

I look forward to hearing CPJ's comments on this. Hopefully he gives us more than coach speak.

I don't wish him any ill will. It's not like he is the first guy to decide Tech isn't for him. The transfer doesn't have to be football related like Vad.

It's not just us.

Vad Lee transferring made sense from a football standpoint. He wasn't running the offense properly and it just wasn't working with him under center. Marshall transferring out, specifically from a football point of view, makes no sense.

Umm, Chubb and Michel are good college backs, but with both of them possibly going pro MM would start for UGA next year. He's faster than anybody on their RB DC and his 1st down carry on our last drive is just about the rest you need to see. Obviously he'd have to sit a year, but our current RB roster does not take much of a back seat to UGA - if any.

If given the choice between Mills and MM, I'd take Mills. But let's not pretend this doesn't suck. I wish MM well, he looks like a quality I formation tailback to me. I hope we don't have to face him.

Pretty much sums up my view as well. It would hurt a lot more if Mills hadn't stepped in as a true frosh this year. But he showed how dangerous he is several times this year with monster runs. He was severely undervalued coming out of HS and played big for us these last 2 seasons. Wish him well and hope it ends up being the right decision for him, because he could have really helped us out the next 2 years.

Except he would have to sit out next year, then have to compete against the backs they bring in.

He can't play at a FBS or D1, or whatever it is now, without sitting for a year unless there is a hardship.

Apparently there's an ACC two-year wait rule. So I doubt he's going to FSU or Miami or BC or any of them.

Heel turn incoming.
