Joseph Bulovas

Somebody really wants to play at Alabama. Seems like a risk to go this route.

The way I understand it, he enrolls, pays his way this summer, Bamalama puts him on scholarship. Catch is, you can never have taken an official visit or visited by a coach in any official capacity. I guess he is nearly 100% guaranteed a scholarship, but I would take a sure thing as opposed to waiting until August. I suppose that is why their prior kicker commit decided to decommit for Arizona State. Probably asked by Saban on an unofficial visit to blueshirt and decided to take the sure thing.

I also read that a blueshirt cannot play because he is counted as next year. On ship, but can't play until 2018 season, if I understand correctly. I hope he is another dumbass Dontae.

Why would Saban waste a scholarship if he already has the guy on campus? He'll want to use that scholarship in 2018. This kid is a dumbass.

Supposedly, he gets put on scholarship in August, but nothing is binding Saban or Bulovas other than their pinky promise to each other. Saban could call him in July and say "forget it" as I understand it. Must have tried the same deal with the kicker that decommitted. Kicker figured a sure thing is better than a promise from a snake oil salesman.

I'd never heard of blueshirting. Apparently Tennessee does a lot of it too.

Maybe they call it "blueshirting" because the kid can sing the blues if the coach changes his mind.

Except for CPJ , who delivers on promises!
Do you think HS players and their parents get that? There are some coaches who deliver on promises and some who routinely break them. Do they know who is who?

This is the same thing as post-college job opportunities: do they get it?

Nah, they're stuck in 'naw, it won't be me' mode.

Every 3* and higher recruit should receive an anonymous packet that includes news articles of each coach in the region keeping or breaking promises.

So far,
Kirby gets the Blankenship article
Johnson gets the Ratliff article

No I don't. The kicker in Athens is living his life long dream of playing for UGAg. Bulovas wants to live his life long dream of playing for Bama, according to his own statements.

I think Kirby Smart knew his kicker was going nowhere and wanted to use his available scholarships on this recruiting class. After all, the kid said his dream is to play at UGAg

Same for the Bama kid. If his scholarship falls through. If he is offered a pwo in August, he will probably accept it. Saban has to know this. I feel like it is 95% he gets the scholarship, but there is no guarantee it will be there.

Just from my limited knowledge of coaches, CPJ and Dabo seem to be class acts when rewarding scholarships to walk ons who have worked hard and contributed. Kirby is a scumbag, just like his mentor Saban.

Kirby is a scumbag, just like his mentor Saban.

And yet he signed the "highest rated recruiting class in the history of modern football" per 247sports. Do people not know that Kirby is a scumbag or do they just ignore it?

In my mind, the recruiting packet should include:
- Articles about coaches keeping/breaking promises
- Some chart comparing talent development (maybe number of 3* players that make the NFL and 5* players that don't)
- Indication of financial success of students who don't make the NFL (the "where are they now" articles showing Isiah Willis making 6 figures at 23 vs. Brendan Douglas living in his mom's basement)
- The benefits of living in a big city like Atlanta

I heard on the radio that smart gave a scholarship to a kicker that is transferring from Wofford? Looks like wildthing may be back on the bench now anyways. Guess its good to have dreams though.

sounds like you may have identified a business opportunity. now sell it as something that the NCAA must provide all recruits with, and you have a captured market too

if you think individuals would often buy it - or even look into it, then i think you may be wrong.

as others have said, this is an area where each individual will think that "they will make it to the NFL" and "they wont be getting screwed"

it reminds of that joke about why so many ladies like music that has lyrics in it that is very demeaning to women ... "he aint talking about me"

facts dont always pierce the veil of hope.. that is sometimes good, and that is sometimes bad

Not that it matters; according to Rivals he has not signed the Alabama LOI.
God help him. If he so much as dreams about missing a field goal in an Alabama uniform, Saban will know about it.

JB: "Hey coach, I'm here and ready to get started."
NS: "..."
JB: "I'm the kicker. You blue-shirted me? My name is Joseph Bulovas."
NS: "Literally who? What the öööö is a blue-shirt?"

Bill Curry should have called the guy and warned him, it doesn't pay to spurn Tech for the Tide. Good luck to him at Idaho A&T.

Fair point, and so eloquently said. I forgot I was on Stingtalk for a minute.

Bulovas might want to stay away from any ATV activities until he's on scholly
