No, you are not the only one. There is a reason why our rival to the east fears Chris Hatcher at GT more than any other candidate, but I guess our AD does not feel it is necessary to even give him a real shot at the job. Apparently, he spent too much time at LSU hanging out with assistant coaches to give anyone else that doesn't have D-IA HC experience a fair shot at the job. I don't understand how our AD can say that he did a full and thorough search for our next HC without giving Hatcher a real interview and fair shot at the job.

It just seems his shotgun spread-option WVU offense would fit our personnel extremely well. We have good blocking receivers, a mobile QB, and good RBs.

We need exciting offenses, which generate points at will; i'd rather play in shootout games instead of D struggle games like we have under CCG (b/c the O sucked so much).

Spread Option = exciting and potent

The last thing I want to see is us hire someone who's going to put in some god damned pro style offense; if that happens, we might as well have kept CG and saved the $4 mil.

Yeah who would have thought that an NFL OC would install a pro-style offense?

Am I the only guy left on the planet that thinks Hatcher is a perfect fit?

Thus far I'm rather lukewarm on the process.
I am with you. Hatcher seems to me the perfect fit. And I would say that I am a little more than just lukewarm on the process...just really figured we would have more info out there and honestly, thought we would have something wrapped up by now.

The rumor is that Muschamp could be announced as HC tomorrow or Tuesday and that Hatcher has not been interviewed. Picking Muschamp without even interviewing Hatcher equals not giving Hatcher a fair shot.

Am I the only guy left on the planet that thinks Hatcher is a perfect fit? If his GA HS head coaches ties are even 1/2 as strong as some have said, he should at LEAST be a top tier candidate.

Thus far I'm rather lukewarm on the process. I was hoping for a Paul Johnson or a Chris Hatcher. Somebody who knows offense (dammit!). Somebody who would be exciting and get ME excited about Tech football again. Somebody who would put hope back into me like O'Leary did. I remember sitting in Death Valley in 2000 down late and thinking as long as there was time left we could win it. And even down with 90 seconds left, Tech drove the field and seized the win. With Chan if Tech ever got behind you better get out the prayer beads. If they got behind by two scores, it's time to pack it in and call it a day ... they're done for. I want to feel like Tech has a chance in nearly any situation again!! I MISS THAT!

I look at the candidates and I see defense .... defense .... defense. That doesn't bode well for having me excited about Tech's offense, or keeping Tenuta around.

Pardon me if I'm the fly in the ointment ... I just see this is a very very very very very very critical hire, given how most the country is mired in mediocrity right now. This is a chance for Tech to sieze long term control of the ACC and be a real national player again.... and I don't wanna see that screwed up.
Nope, I am his biggest supporter.

Why is everyone convinced Hatcher isn't getting a fair look?
Cause dem all but confirmed it.

DRad doesn't like Hatcher because he has no D1 experience. That is what I have been told. I think that is a shame because I personally believe that CH is the right man for the job.

True the spread option is exciting but risky. It takes an unusual kind of QB to run it and a lot of reps. Look what happened to Oregon and WVU when Dixon and White got hurt- their offenses went into the tank. Plus, since it is not an offense that is run at the pro level, good passing QB's are not going to commit to those programs because they won't be prepared for the next level, not to mention getting their teeth knocked out week in and week out.

Vince Young ran the spread. Jamarcus Russell ran the spread.

Many of the top QB prospects for this years draft Brennan, Brohm, and Daniel run the spread.

How many GT QBs are in the NFL? It is not like we are accustomed to having QBs that are able to successfully run a pro-style offense and frankly there are not many of those guys out there. It is a lot easier to find a guy that can run the spread and as shown above if I guy is an NFL quality QB running the spread is not going to hurt his draft prospects.

Spread, yes. SPread option no. There is a difference. Many colleges now run a version of a spread offense. If you want to have a successful passing game, you need to be able to recruit QB's that think they will be prepared to play in the NFL. GT has traditionally failed in this regard.

It's the same offense. You just tweak it take advantage of your QBs strengths and personnel. Vince Young and Jamarcus Russell definitely had an option running game as a big part of their package in college.

A lot of what is wrong about our bb team is Hewiit's mission to run a nba development camp,...in my opinion.

In the same way, but much more importantly, we need to build our football program around winning college football games. If that means running the wishbone, so be it.
If we had a Matt Ryan during Calvin's 3 years there would be a an argument, albeit a weak one for a pro style environment to recruit.

I am all for finding a system guy (like a spurrier jr.) that can win-rinse and repeat with average to pretty good quarterbacks.
