What Tech Stars Were Your Favorites When You Were Growing Up?

Billy Lothridge and TE whose name escapes me. They played high school together at Gainesville.

Basketball? First Tech bballer I remember was Rich Yunkus later in the 60's.

Liked Ben Vaughn as well who was world class sprinter and tried to play football but that didn't work out.

Oh and first womens bballer favorite was Lu Ann Simms.

Reggie Ball.

Am I doing this right?

I'll go to my grave and say it wasn't Reggie who sucked, it was Chan, let's drop a 5'8" quarterback behind 6'7" lineman 7 steps, who sucked.

Reggie Ball would get sacked and come out talking crap to the guy who nailed him. He was tough. Under Paul Johnson, he would have been a star.

Not that it really matters but, Reggie was 5-11 or close to it. More to the point, our offense under chan was a busted train wreck. Tom Brady would have looked like öööö.

Chan ran the option once with Reggie Ball and gained 3 yards in the Notre Dame game IIRC.

It was the highlight of his offensive career.

So... there i was. 2017 President's dinner for Roll Call.

QB from the 1957 team was seated at my table as well as a player from the 2006 team.

The QB finally asked the 2006 team member "wtf with Chan Gailey? You people had Calvin Johnson and lost to Wake Forest! Coach Dodd would have won a national championship with you fellas." (paraphrased)

He may not be wrong about that

Football
Lenny Snow (1966),
The Rock, Gebhart, Jeff Ford, Rick Lewis, Bubba Hoats, Bill Flowers, Rob Healy (1970 Team)

Basketball - Rich Yunkus

Dodd would have loved Durant Brooks
Go back and look at his record against the SEC powers; winning record (some in dominant fashion), in fact Bama was the only school he didn't have a winning record against, and that was close. He beat UGA 8 times in a row. I doubt any Tech coach will ever match his ability, and certainly not his character. Had the BOR given him any curriculum latitude whatsoever, he would have done amazing things.

Basketball
Kenny Anderson & Dennis Scott

Football
Shawn Jones, Willie Clay and Marco Colemen
