Biggest comeback in college football history

But I have heard from people that spend a lot of time around him that his personality can get pretty grating.
I’ve heard and witnessed exactly the opposite. CPJ is a very funny man and well liked. Sure his public personality is one of a grumpy old man, but the media sucks. GT is not even mentioned on local tv sports reports. Seriously screw those guys.

Instead of making a drastic move of booting him, I think Stansbury needs to focus on drumming up money for recruiting resources. I don’t think CPJ tries all that hard to recruit and he’s not going to change. That sucks. But keep CPJ as a head coach and get a “special teams / assistant head coach” who is a natural recruiter.

I think most of you guys see the narrative you want.

Transfers and decommits are higher nationally than ever before. If you don't think that cpj has been in every AD's office trying to get a larger recruiting budget for more personnel, new facilities, and expanded curriculum offerings you haven't been paying attention to the podcasts and interviews. If you think recruiting good linemen is an issue unique to tech, I don't think you pay attention to football.

You aren't paying attention to the point of the posts these days... Recruiting good anything is hard for anybody. The question is: What can we do to get out of our current mediocrity? We're trying to identify why the line has been a special problem for us lately. Ideas?

11 wins, 3 wins, 9 wins. Mediocre on average, but not any given year. I don't know if that is better or worse than a Chantastic 7,7,7.

I think our starting talent is fine. We just aren't very deep and I think that has been caused by CPJ (and more so, DRad/MBob) focus on recruiting GA. We need more money to cast a wider net.

Maybe we mean different things by 'recently' — in 2010-2013 we went 6-7, 8-5, 7-7, 7-6. This year we're 4-4. Since O'Leary left, our records are the epitome of mediocrity, with 2009 & 2014 being the only years we were on the fringes of true national relevance.

Dang, no love for 2016.

I think 'recent' should be a 5 year look. That is all members of the current team only. It doesn't change much. Pretty much a 7 win average, but with highs and lows as opposed to Chan's steadiness.

2 bowl wins, losing season (likely 2)
1 Orange Bowl win
2 UGA wins, 1 UGa OT loss, 1 6pt loss - Pretty much even

I think the improvement in recruiting budget and the end of the uneven bye week scheduling will pay dividends. Both of those are AD, not coach related.

The years its been bad have been years with high attrition that wasn't anticipated and/or insufficient leadership on the line.

I don't know if that's an issue where sewak isn't able to develop leaders reliably or what. I think its hard to anticipate injuries or people deciding their dream is to do something other than football.

Having said that, I think the line has been better in the last few years when healthy. I seem to remember some absolutely awful lines with tw at qb. But a bad line this year after a great one last year (and iirc a good one in 2014) doesn't necessarily mean we need to change. You can have bad years even when doing the right things.

But blaming things like cpj doesn't care about recruiting, cpj needs to recruit more inside/outside ga, cpj doesn't care about defense, he needs to be more cheerful, etc. are lazy commentary that don't seem to match reality.
