What evidence do you guys have to think the defense is magically going to be better next year?

If all Woody does different is stop this mess from happening, then I'll be happy:
Last possession of regulation by UT with 3:21 remaining: 3:21 to go 93 yards on 7 plays and score a touchdown.
Last possession of first half by UM with 1:59 remaining: 1:47 to go 77 yards on 9 plays and score a touchdown.
Last possession of game by UM with 2:30 remaining: 2:30 to go 85 yards on 15 plays and kick a field goal.
Last possession of first half by WF with 4:35 remaining: 3:33 to go 64 yards on 9 plays and score a touchdown.
Last possession of game by UVA with 3:10 remaining: 1:48 to go 64 yards on 5 plays and score touchdown.
Last possession of first half by Duke with 2:03 remaining: 1:37 to go 72 yards on 11 plays and score touchdown.
Last possession of first half by uga with 0:42 remaining: 0:42 to go 50 yards on 6 plays and kick a field goal.

To be fair to Roof, on six occasions (out of 10, excluding Jacksonville) the opposing team failed to score on their last possession of the first half. The range of time remaining in the first half for those six occasions was 0:58 to 1:09. However, the end-of game possessions were a different story. Four times the opponents needed to score on the their last possession to win and only VT failed to do so.
With a aggressive defense we would have easily won 2 or 3 of those games!

One play a game better on defense and we are 8-3 last year, but frankly if cpj made this move to only be one play a game better on the field than he is an idiot. Roof's off the field abilities were worth more than 1 play a game due to scheme/playcalling

If you believe in cpj, than you'd have to assume we will be significantly better on the field next year.

The Ted Roof that coaches a national championship defense?
Absolute BS. Auburn's defense was ranked #60 the year they went undefeated - they gave up an average of 24 points per game. If you call that a National Championship defense then we already have one.

Part of that was because they were scoring so quickly.

Hey I hope we have a spectactular offense next year, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Ted wasn’t coaching the defense by himself. He had assistants, and they did what they thought would be the best for the team. I’m just not convinced something as simple as a coaching change will fix our problems. I think it is a personnel issue.

Its not a personnel issue.

I was at Tech when Roof was playing and witnessed first hand the metamorphosis that took place when Don Lindsay took over.

I love Ted as a person but Tech comes first (and apparently as well with TS who had to dismiss a classmate and friend in TR - that had to be difficult for him). I've seen remarkable improvement in defense simply by changing coordinators before and I expect the same with NW.

Some of you are blinded by liking HE WHO SHALL NOT BE AGGRESSIVE as a person. The dude was absolute öööö for the 60 minutes in which games took place.
