The TO was run under the wish bone formation with a TE and full house backfield. The offense that PJ will run at GT is the spread option with a full back and 2 slot backs and no TE. I am tired of hearing it called a TO.

Actually the TO can be run out of any formation. What makes it a TO is that the QB can hand off, keep, or pitch. Three options.

Paul said himself he doesn't know why it's the spread with UF and WV and TO with Navy, only difference is the QB is in shotgun.

PJ himself calls the set the spread and has for years. Predominantly, the plays called out of it have been triple option in nature, but there is speed option, mid-line option and a devastating play-action pass sequence.

Why don't we just com eup with a new name for it then? No one seems to know what it is anyway. All I care about is does it score.

Somewhere or other I've seen folks starting to call it the Tech Spread - TS. CPJ runs the TS. Works for me!

Ditto!!!

I'm tired of hearing all this technical bablybook from both boards about is it or isn't it the T.O.

Who cares as long as we win!

When Hall of Famer Tracy Ham ran the 3-0 it was called the 'Hambone'. Over the years following Ham it was referred to as the 'flexbone'.

I don't know why casual fans try to label offenses. Spread, spread-option, pro-style, triple option, run and shoot, etc. Its stupid to throw a blanket name on offenses when every football coach uses different schemes.

A sophisticated fan who goes on message boards understands that PJ has an offensive system with a track record of success.

This post does not compliment your handle very well

i have it from a VERY credible source that we will run the Wish-Triple-Flex Option, or WTF O for short

"Triple Option" = three options. The formation it's run out of is irrelevant.

Shocking, I know.

To Be Precise

We will be running the vaunted Tech Spread offense, which will use the triple option as a staple play.

Vaunted, I say.

WTFO is great

GTO wouldn't be half-bad either.

The defense could come onto the field behind the Ramblin Wreck
...and the offense could come out onto the field behind something along the lines of this:
