Worst Losses in the Russell era

WTF games.

Wake 1999.
LSU 2000.
Wake 2002.
UGA 2002. Worst. Ever.
Fresno 2002 & 2007.
Clemson 2003.
Wake 2006.
UGA 2009.
Kansas 2010.
Air Force 2010.
MTSU 2012.
UGA 2012.
UGA 2013.
Tennessee 2017 (this one would make the list in real time but is even worse after the season that UT had)

2002 season was the lowest coming off one of the most successful eras in GT football history. Crazy to say that after 2015 and 2017 but it still rings true.

Oh damn, thanks for the memories.

We didn't lose to UNC that year, we put 40-something points on them.

Losing to Duke did suck since they are such a bitch fan base (as has been noted before).
That's right, got my years mixed up. Must have been '04. It was in Chapel Hill and a radio only night game. Seems like it was 6-6 at halftime and they torched us in the 2nd half.

Why do people keep saying we lost to Kansas State?? We never played them, we played Kansas away and then beat the stew out of them the following year at home. Jayhawks are not the Wildcats.

"LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas followed one of the worst losses in school history with a big upset over No. 15 Georgia Tech. A week getting stung by North Dakota State in Turner Gill's coaching debut for the Jayhawks, Kansas put Jordan Webb in at quarterback and promptly turned it around. Webb threw three touchdown passes, Kansas beat the Yellow Jackets 28-25 and all the sudden that season-opening stinker is a memory."

Worst loss to me was getting thumped at home to Middle Tenn State. That was bad. If not for Derrick Morgan blocking a late fg attempt, Gardner-Webb would have beat us at home.

Yes, it was Kansas State. I was at the game in Manhattan that day and it was miserable. At least we got beat by a good coach though. Got a lot of respect for Bill Snyder.

Worst loss?

Lost $750K in cash per year by siging with Adidas.

Edit to add:bigcry:

What year did we play KSU? In 2010 we lost to Kansas in Lawrence, KS.

Look it up, GT has never played Kansas State in football. Kind of hard to be at a game that never occurred.

Agreed. What Bill Snyder has done with that program is nothing short of amazing. I'm sure a lot of the younger people on this board don't remember that Kansas State was the *worst* program in the country until he took over. They had a total of 4 winning seasons between 1935 and his first year in 1989. In fact, they'd been 2-30-1 in the three seasons immediately before he arrived. If you've got to lose to a team from the State of Kansas, you definitely want it to be to the great Bill Snyder. Much respect.

I don’t think we’ve ever lost to Kansas. I can’t be sure because I’ve sorta blocked out the B___ L____ years.
