Johnson does, and it's probably going to get him fired. This is why we need to prioritize recruiting when we hire a new coach. There are a variety of reasons Johnson isn't getting it done, but the option scheme is not one of them. In fact, I think it's fair to say it's allowed us to have 08, 09, 14, and 16 type seasons DESPITE our other issues.

The option scheme is killing recruiting. We will never be a consistent top 25 recruiting team, but it can damned sure be a lot better than what it is now. Our talent level right now is abysmal, particularly so on the O line. We are basically running a hyped up roster (due to having more scholarships) of a good FCS program in terms of talent. We are undersized almost across the board and add crap qb play to it and you get a season like this.
 
We need to coach all 3 phases of the game. Find me a coach who can do that, and I’m all on board.

You blame it on the option. I think academic standards, lack of majors for athletes, no support from administration, and a staff that doesn't recruit well are much bigger factors.

Also, stop with the FCS stuff. It's dumb.
 
After watching GT for 11 years, and noticing how the TO gives us a big advantage against teams just as good or better talent wise than us - bama, usc, osu, psu, n.d., LSU, OU, uf, um, cu, uo, mich, vt are just a few of the schools intending to install it in their next spring practices.

With their superior athletes they will be unstoppable in the TO.

OKAY. well then tell me what you think can happen? How about we take the 40+mil we've raised for the new building, fire PJ, hire Nick Saban, buy a 5 star qb's family a house? Oh, and get the fat öööö with the banner a treadmill. That better?

The real reason we don’t do it is the failed Vad Lee experiment. The transition to that formation took a commitment from PJ that he wasn’t ready to do. It would have required changing our whole OL blocking scheme and we just weren’t prepared to do that. But here’s the thing, when you are in desperation mode it makes no sense to put a QB in a situation where he has little time to survey the coverage and be successful moving the offense quickly down the field.

I'm not forecasting what will happen but there are quite obviously more than those 3 possible outcomes you mentioned. Just off the top of my head, here's a very possible 4th:
- we hire someone and we win.

Don't get mad because someone points out the flaw in your logic.
