I know, big cry me all you want.
I know, it's only one game.
I know, vt ain't that good.
I know, vt lost to old dimion.
I know, Duke.
I know, it was his call to not play oliver sooner.
I know, I'm drunk.

But... Give Johnson a QB and a half ass defense and he can win. Until somebody convinces me we have a good chance of being any better long term I say give him another year. Oliver was our 3rd string QB ahead of someone many say is the most talented QB to ever step on the flats but he is a baller. He might not win the starting job next year but that's a good thing.

Depending on how the rest of the year goes, I may still be ok with firing cpj but I'm in favor of giving him ONE more year with a good/great QB and a year old Woody defense.

It must be hard living life on a roller coaster of emotions.

As CPJ would say, it is never as good or as bad as it seems.

Finally you have a QB that gets up field FAST and QUICK. You see Oliver immediately try to get upfield, which is vital to this offense. His upfield pressure in the run game makes the defense literally stare at him, which is what opened up the b back so much tonight.

I also want to mention GREAT job by the OL tonight, the play seemed inspired and seemed like they cared. A++

I dont know anything about anything. Wait and see, I guess.

Just when I thought I was out...they pulled me back in!

Well...if you're against Johnson you can still make some arguments. I've always been with CPJ, but i can see the chronic issues.

It's rare that we physically overmatch another team, but it seemed that way with our OL tonight. They were incredible. Tobias runs through arm tackles that brought down TQM and JT both.

However, the Tobias O is very simple. Doesn't mean it's easy to stop, but how many people can carry 30+ times a game and stay healthy? The Miami game will be a much better test. We are going to face more third and 6+ in that game, I would think. We have to have some threat of throwing the football.

I don't see how you can go back to TQM as starter though. Props to TQM for being supportive and fired up out there.

I'm sure Taquan is well liked on the team but I would think the other players would not respond well to going back to him as the starting QB.

Well. Paul gets to recruit, develop, and subsequently pick his quarterback. So the notion of “give Paul a good qb and he can win” only furthers my displeasure with Paul.
It is one game on a Johnson roller coaster, the team and coach looked good but, we have been here before. Also, he is the one who has been playing Marshall.

My only issue with Johnson is that he whiffed on the most important position on the field. He stuck with Marshall too long either out of stubbornness or incompetence. Neither is good, and at his age, neither can be fixed.

Oliver looked great running the ball last night but on the only pass attempt he tried, he stumbled and failed to complete a 10 yard pass. I fear we are all getting way too giddy about beating a team that lost to Old Dominion this year. A team that the announcers repeatedly said before, during and after the broadcast was "young and inexperienced" and whom they said was "unusually average for a Bud Foster defense".

Their defensive line was not a dominant defensive line and those are the teams we do very well against. Against those more dominant lines we will be forced to be able to throw the football. Oliver has yet to show me that he can do that (for that matter, neither has Marshall so I'm certainly not advocating going back to him).

Let's see how we do against the lines of Miami and Georgia before we start making decisions about "keep Johnson" when there is still very much the possibility that we don't make a bowl game again this year.

But, beat Duke :dunno:

Like many others have said... I don't know what I want anymore. When Johnson loses and the offense is terrible I want him gone because I'm sick of the offense. His snarky comments to reporters makes the displeasure worse. When Johnson wins the offense is awesome and I love the guy. His snarky comments just makes him funny and awesome.

I have nothing valuable to add.

This is just a Louisville 2, a young defense that was overmatched. We can not expect Oliver to carry the ball 40 times a game and my God is was boring to watch. Next good defense we play will do the same thing that Duke did.
