Johnson to retire

Couple more things:
Season ticket holder buddy talked to a former UGA QB today who said Tech should stick to 3O - Georgia absolutely hates facing it.
And Georgia fans have no idea how close they came to having the 3O in 1989, with PJ as OC. If Erk had gotten the job (it went to Goff), he was bringing PJ in as OC.

I'm pretty sure Johnson won't take more than a year off from coaching. I wouldn't be surprised if less

Yeah, I think he goes to a lower level where it can be all about the x's and o's, rather than recruiting and facilities, media, etc.

I imagine that stuff may have worn him out.

Wow. Mixed emotions, for sure. Paul Johnson is definitely one of my favorite coaches ever and did some great things at Georgia Tech. I will never understand why he doesn't get the credit he deserves as an elite coach. It's going to be weird watching someone else roam the sidelines.

That said, I think a change can be good, and the timing may be perfect. We are currently the best job on the market and there are some solid coaches out there not named Whisenhunt. While Jeff Monken would definitely be my #1 choice and I am a huge fan of the option, I don't think we'd suffer if we switched to another system. A good coach will win games - period. Hell, we were supposed to go 3-9 when Paul Johnson took over but ended up winning 20 games in the first 2 years despite the players not "fitting" the system. I'm excited to see who we end up with and what direction they take the program.

But not so great things about the value of a Southern degree

Guess they couldn’t just teach him to read and write, so maybe he could’ve worked at the post office rather than as a garbage man, or security officer, when he left.

Monken dropping THWG already

Was that a nice, I’m interested plug there at the end? I will admit that’s one great way to build support. I’m an Art guy but whoever it is needs to have the passion of digust toward the other team in the state.

Gailey had the same win % as CPJ. Bowl game will decide who ends higher

Tell me which season of CPJ’s Gailey even makes the ACC Championship game. The ACC schedule CPJ and GT face not to mention the systematic opposition faced by provable scheduling advantages given to our opponents and repeated rules changes directed at our offense make CPJ one of the best coaches at GT ever. Imagine if you would a world where we don’t fumble 4 times against UGA in 2010 and 2015. How do we feel about this decision and this idiotic comparison then?

2018. The coastal was garbage this year.

lol we wouldn’t have beaten any more of Duke, UVA, Clemson, VPI, Miami or Pitt under Gailey this season vs under CPJ. At best Gailey does exactly what CPJ does this season against those 3-3

Imagine if you would a world where Superman played BBack for us and Spiderman is our QB. That has about as much relevance as the hypothetical you posted.

No the hypothetical is relevant because anyone can understand random events dictate the outcome of these games most of the time and for a team like GT it bears to reason to give consideration to those losses against UGA that are otherwise inexplicable.

In which Johnson season would Gailey have only won 3 games?

While we’re asking absurd questions.
