Which recruiting service are these rankings from? And what strange curves. They increased their total rankings by roughly a 1,000 from 2012 to 2013? How many new employees did they hire? And 50% of all recruits are two stars, and 35% are three stars?

I would be curious to know the percentage of all FBS signees that are ranked, and the number of ranked athletes that do not sign with an FBS team. So much more to know.

Updated: CCG-recruited players and their post-season honors:

1st Team: 22 (15 unique players)
2nd Team: 11 (9 unique players)
Honorable Mentions: 7 (7 unique players)

A total of 25 unique players recruited by CCG made the All-ACC team in some form (1st, 2nd, or HM). I haven't run the numbers on CPJ, but I imagine it's a lot lower.

I'd imagine it is lower for CPJ, but there are a couple of obvious reasons.

1) The ACC is significantly larger now than it was in the CCG era. There were still 9 teams in the ACC when Gailey started, and only 12 when he finished.

2) We were an offensive team under CPJ so you'd expect more accolades for offensive players. But with our offensive scheme, the stats got spread around so much that QB and BB are really the only skill positions with a reasonable chance at All-ACC and our OLs have been vastly undervalued since the beginning (see Shaq Mason rated 2nd team All-ACC in 2014), and even QB/BB didn't put up great stats unless they were a real star players like Dwyer, Nesbitt, or JT.

Example:
In Gailey's best year (2006) we had FOUR players with >200 rushing yards, and FOUR players with >100 receiving yards.
In Johnson's best year (2014) we had TWELVE players with >200 rushing yards FIVE players with >100 receiving yards.

I haven't, but it looks like something up my alley. I'm not super familiar with Bunuel's work, but I've seen that one where toilet activities are public and eating is done in private. Or parts of it, at least.

Rivals rankings. Agreed, there is a lot the raw data just doesn't tell us.

Fair point on OL.

Guys like Laskey still managed to make All-ACC, and when we had very good receivers (Demaryius & Smelter) they made it as well. Defensively, especially outside of 2014 and the earlier teams with Gailey recruits, we've struggled to find representation.

Conference expansion is a bit of a moot point, since a 3rd team All-ACC was added with the additions of Pitt and Syracuse. (I know you were replying to a post referencing 1st and 2nd team specifically.)

As far as talent, it’s pretty mediocre. I think CPJ would probably even agree though that this is not at all his most talented roster and probably ranks at the lower end of any of his Tech teams. When you take this mediocre roster and try to transfer it to any other offense, mediocre may be being kind. But that’s not CPJ’s fault. A wise man once said IIWII.

It was humorous. He announced his final four on Christmas Eve. Then we offered on Christmas Day.
