Jordan Yates

Unless Yates improves his accuracy and decision making, he won’t be the future QB.

As for our roster overall- we’re small and not as good as *you* think. No doubt about it.
So then how did we end up 2nd in the Coastal and 7-4 against teams not ranked in the top 3 with a running back at QB and a terrible roster? Incredible coaching?

I think CPJ is a fantastic coach, but let's be real. 2018 wasn't even his best year as a playcaller, and I'm damn sure our position coaches weren't turning lemons into lemonade, so the only explanation is that our players are at least decent. It's a solid roster that is a good QB and a couple playmakers away from being as good as anyone in the ACC not named Clemson. Let's hope Yates/Graham/Johnson/Oliver becomes that good QB we need, because every successful season we've had since 1990 has revolved around a very good QB.

So what are your credentials for judging a QB’s accuracy and decision making? And yes I would expect both to improve in college, sort of what college is for you know.

I can't equate "incredible" with mediocre results, if certain teams are left out.

LMGTLAO!!!

GT gets a coach who emphasizes recruiting and one of our recruits immediately gets a star and ranking bump. No coincidence whatsoever. I really don't like the popularity of these sites, but I understand it.

My thoughts exactly. GT subscriptions double the last month. Lots of 2020 and 2021 4-stars talking about GT now. The best thing Rivals can do is show GT some love. Will make them another $10,000 this weekend.

I love Yates and think he will be very good. But he was not a highly recruited QB. Now this German DL kid, he looks like a beast. I want him!

Precisely.

Tyrann Mathieu wasn’t highly recruited either but would you say he isn’t a 4*? It is hard to dismiss what Yates did vs. some of the best competition GA/Country this season and playoffs

I love Yates. Conpared him to Mahomes the week before the state championship and said he might be the best gift PJ could leave CGC. I think he will be very good and maybe great at GT. I just think Rivals taking him from top 1500 to top 300 right now is more than ironic. Call me a cynic about the pay sites.

We can cherry pick examples all day.

Don't underestimate me to dismiss something, you know that! For instance, a buddy of mine is an OC and QB's coach for a team JY played. He wasn't particularly impressed by his QB skills. The coach did say the guy wins and has some good highlights however.

The reality is that he's here, he's coming, we all look forward to and hope he lives up to his new designation.

You're not being cynical, you're a realist who's being reasonable. Everyone knows the scouting sites will redesignate stars for athletes for "reasons". What's definitely not a reason is that he played his way into into it. If that were the case, we would have seen it sooner.

you left out "'cause the Coastal sucked ballz in 2018"

What? This makes absolutely no sense. So people don’t improve?!? I’m pretty sure the unimpressed coach got his butt beat by JY. Rivals has absolutely no reason to throw GT a bone with the ratings.

I guess this is the way to backhand compliment our own team now
