Some linemen can catch.

Quite familiar.

We had a pass play actually put in the game plan for myself one time. Unfortunately, I broke my leg early in that game.

That doesn’t mean those guys are capable at playing at a championship level. I played TE in high school to boot.

I'm very happy we have a new coach and approach to passing the football!
Agree with this. It's no secret that I loved the option scheme, but there was no excuse for us not to have been better at passing the football. Regardless of scheme, I hope our new staff is better at two things: recruiting and teaching fundamentals on both sides of the ball.

First play against Clemson CGC needs to line the offense up in Paul Johnson's standard formation just to troll Dabo.
If he were to call it, it'll be to honor Paul more than to troll Dabo.
Better yet, CGC should call it as the 1st play in his 1st home game (USF?)
Sort of a passing of the torch or whatever.

But it'll never happen so move on.

There's only one thing I hope they're better at: winning. They can do it however they want AFAIAC.

I'm fascinated to see how the current skill position translates to the next offense. Our WRs havent had to run anything more than a go or out route since HS. Our BB's and AB's dont read holes, they just run to a spot whether it's open or not. It's not rocket science to teach how to read holes but the instinct part (cut backs, etc) just take experience to develop. I'm sure it will come back to them from their HS days. Our OL dont know how to pass block at all, nor have they ever had to set up with their weight on their heels rather than weight forward. Our QB's will have to work on their footwork since they've always been taught to do this weird drop back with it's left-handed drop back-to-right handed throw. I still dont understand why we did this but it's in the past now. Yes, this will be a fascinating year to say the least.
GOOD questions

What would you think of Juanyeh moving from DB to WR? We are going to be in need of playmakers. I would love to see him as a slot receiver.
we now have 4 decent receiver types coming in,hopefully won't need to change him

May end up with more. Miami transfer Marquez Ezzard from Stockbridge is supposed to be visiting tomorrow and word is he wants to come here. I think him and Yates have a good relationship and Yates may be the one trying to draw him in. He's a 4* freshman but only played in 2 games so I think he can use 2018 as a redshirt, and may even get a waiver to play immediately due to coaching change at Miami.

Anybody know what offense we are going to run under coach Collins? I would be really excited if it's a variant of the modern RPO type of option offense. I would be bummed if it's the I-formation pro offense that chugs along at 3 yards and cloud of Gailey dust.

No one knows for sure yet. One thing I like about Patenaude, the OC, is that he doesn't really have "his" offense in the same fashion that CPJ had "his" offense. Patenaude's gameplan adjusted to the players on the roster and was pretty different between schools.

Initially people were bummed, perhaps understandably, because he didn't set the world on fire at Temple. But his roster wasn't great there, and certainly the QB wasn't. His offenses at Coastal Carolina set school records. I think we have a good pool of QBs on the team to make something work. Doubt we see much I-formation stuff.

I bet we run the same read option most everyone else does now. QB in shotgun, 1 back offset, 3 WR. Small running backs, anybody remember Robert Lavette, Brent Cunningham, etc. We've had a bunch of little but good running backs.
