Are our guys who asked for waivers in the portal going to be able to play this season?

Still haven't had any decision on their waivers yet. Apparently the NCAA can take as long as they want to make a decision.

We are not Ohio State or Miami, so likely not. Have to hard line the little guys to show they mean business!!
USCw just got Chris Steele's waiver approved as well. In hoops, we got Banks' approved hours before like our third game, it seems like. Total joke.

If we are talking pleasant surprises:

Offense: Nate Cottrell - I think being able to play out of the backfield as an RB and going in motion into the slot WR potion pre-snap will give our offense an interesting dynamic, both in catching and slot blocking. I don't think he will be a big play threat or even start but most games he will get a few rb touches, a third down catch or two, will be steady, and rack up total yards. If the QB downfield passing game develops, the freshmen Brown could also be a pick here.

Defense: Tre Swilling - I think he takes the leep and is a 2nd/3rd team all-conference corner by the end if the season due to natural talent and CGC's track record with CB's, even without a pass rush to help out.

Special Teams - Demetrius Knight - Harvin, Wells, and Thomas will be the standouts, but that's to be expected. From reading the coaches reports, it sounds like Knight is a freak who will see the field. I could see him getting some time on ST being a hitter, and making a few big time tackles with a block kick or two.

If we are talking the standards:

Offense: Lucas Johnson
Defense: Charlie Thomas
Special Teams: Juanyeh Thomas

This is ridiculous. Just damn clear him already or rescind Justin Fields.

Thought he might RS?
I doubt it. As deep as we are at RB, he is easily a top 2 or 3 athlete on our team. If he is above the line, he will play. We got another really good RB committed for 2020. No need to strategically redshirt Griffin if he can help us now, IMO.

Offense: Malachi Carter (I don’t really know what to expect on O, just feel like I need to pick someone different)
Defense: Charlie Thomas
ST: Juanyeh Thomas (assuming he’s still our returner, if not, Percy Harvin)

(Edit to fill out all my choices)
Fixed.

Jamious Griffin. Biased because I live in Rome, but I haven’t seen a Tech RB with this guy’s skills and work ethic. I’m all in on this guy for the 3 years we have him.

Tariq Carpenter. Obviously Juanyeah is a beast, but I picked him last year. Tariq will lay the wood and we haven’t had that in the safety spot for a while. Should benefit from the coaching change and tons for upside.

Pressley Harvin III. Maybe the best returning player on the team and likely the biggest winner in the coaching philosophy change. He may get triple the punts as last season and he flips the field often and gets a lot of muffed catches that lead to turnovers. A game changer at punter is rare and we have one. Ray Guy finalist.
