They will. They're in band because they're dorksOh god, I hope they don't dork this up like normal.

Think we were the only one to play put on in 2009I hate Thunder and that techno song. It needs to stop across all of college football
Is it me or do all bands play the same stupid music?
And it was great yet for some reason we still play it 6+ times a game ten years later.Think we were the only one to play put on in 2009
Can't we poach a band director from one of the HBCUs so that we stop being corny and boring? "404 things" why add the things at the end? Why even have a show theme? "This is the Georgia Tech band" should be enough, then they do some music. Preferably something heavy on the brass and drums. They will. They're in band because they're dorks
Our director of athletic bands is top notch and way too good for a school with no true music major. He’s also the director of Spirit of Atlanta. Can't we poach a band director from one of the HBCUs so that we stop being corny and boring? "404 things" why add the things at the end? That and about 20 other outkast, TI, and luda songs are readily made for marching band adaptations.
Stick with John Phillip Sousa.I hate Thunder and that techno song. It needs to stop across all of college football

OG white nationalist. No thanks.John Phillip Sousa.
Haven’t you ever heard of Stranger Things? Can't we poach a band director from one of the HBCUs so that we stop being corny and boring? "404 things" why add the things at the end? As a matter of fact, I've got no clue what you're talking about.Haven’t you ever heard of Stranger Things?
Dang dude.As a matter of fact, I've got no clue what you're talking about.
I think the jumble of music is a money/ cost based decision rather than a musical one. Marching bands dont have to pay royalties or licensing fees if they play less than 15 seconds/10 bars/ some other amount of a single song. Our band is one of the very few that travels to EVERY game our team plays. Think of all the teams that play in BDS who dont bring their band - Duke, UNC, Miami, Pitt, UVA, VT. The entire coastal really and I'd bet most of the Atlantic as well. UGA, FSU, Clemson, and the occasional local FCS team are the only bands I can think of off the top of my head who normally make the trip. Our director of athletic bands is top notch and way too good for a school with no true music major. The only thing I wish he would change is play more full songs at halftime rather than a jumble of so many things like it has been the past few years. Back when I marched, the shows he composed were excellent. They try to put too many references in each tune now and the music gets lost in my opinion.
That said, Tech is lucky to have Chris and the band would suffer greatly if he were to leave.
Personal hell story: back when FSU plays VT for the ACCC in Charlotte (2010, I believe) I had an FSU buddy call me and ask if I wanted to go with him. Sweetwater sponsored a bus from Atlanta to Charlotte. Bus leaves at 7am from Atlanta. Beer provided. On the bus, they decide, at 7am, to blast FSU marching Chiefs (or whatever they call them) through the crummy bus speakers for about the first two hours of the trip. Apparently, FSU fans think their band is the greatest marching band on the planet so you have to listen to them AND ENJOY IT at full volume through tiny bus speakers right above your head. I regretted not having my earbuds the very moment the band music started when we hit I85.When I sit and watch football all day I hear the exact same band songs. It’s extremely annoying
The point of the marching band is to hype fans and especially players up. I agree and would like to see more modern songs adapted which will match the new brand. There’s tons of possibilities with Trap music, the genre sound was built off heavy synth, snare, and bass elements. Can't we poach a band director from one of the HBCUs so that we stop being corny and boring?
