Above The Line Watch

Surprised to not see Austin Smith and Connor Hansen on the OL and Jordan Domineck on DL.

True Freshmen appear to be...

Dylan Leonard
Dylan Deveney
Ahmarean Brown
Kalani Norris
Nazir Burnett
Jamious Griffin
Chico Bennett
Silvain Yondjouen
Demetrius Knight
Jordan Huff
Kenan Johnson

That’s 11 out of the 22 signees...already identified as ATL prior to game 1. Seems like a lot of Freshman will play in 2019. May as well since we are learning a totally new scheme. Minimal-to-no schematic advantage for upper classmen.

If the kids can play, then let them!

Desperately need a DT transfer or two for 2020. Shame we couldn’t have gotten to Solomon (Mich -> UT) a little earlier.

I think they might be ATL, but still not see playing time especially if we don't want to burn a redshirt.

My understanding is that ATL players will play. We’ll see...but I feel fairly confident the intent is for everyone on that list to burn the shirt unless they are strategically moved to BTL (or get injured) by roughly game 5.

I think ATL means eligible to play, rather than a guarantee (not 100 percent sure). Thus why Brenton King and Cliff Gandis are ATL but will likely only play if injury dictates. That said, I definitely expect to see less redshirting because CGC wants to reload often with recruiting.

These Fr I suspect are good, but they better go ahead and play 'cause there are going to be better ones coming over the next 3 yrs would be my guess.

I knew this was going to be a young team but man are there a lot of Fr and So on that list. Looks like a couple of Sr’s are BTL also.

Certain positions seem much deeper than others. 8 WR, plus 3 flex (mostly slot) is a lot. 7 safeties seems like a lot. Obviously there are ST reps to go around as well. Otherwise not sure how all of these folks get in unless we run quite the revolving door on reps.

Offensive skill players look quite formidable. The worry will still be OL and DL.
