Game thoughts

It’s code for I recruited a really good team up there that beat the brakes off a team someone else recruited.

I think it was code for, I will lose 4 more regular season games than my immediate predecessor.

We gonna beat a P5 team!

I remember saying the exact same thing (as regards “after 2 weeks preparation”) during Bobby Ross’ second season going against, if memory serves, some ACC nobody.
Actually very good point. I was struggling to remember earlier today the last low water mark and it was Ross's first couple of years. Bobby looked like he'd just took an asswhoopin in the coach's shows with Art Whassisname every week. It was pitiful and it was bad and the TECHS were not happy. Perseverance. Patience. Faith.

I was in love with Bobby Ross from the time he chased the refs after a game at Maryland and chewed their ass

Fourth quarter, down three scores, 4th and 10 from mid field and we punt the ball. Coach is telling everyone we are not trying to win the game but keep it respectable. That sucks.

Did you not hear? CGC recruited and developed that juggernaut we faced today. One of the best in all of college football. We never had a chance thanks to his coaching prowess....wait...

We did have a chance. And the QB that everyone pined for had two really devastating fumbles. Those completely changed the game and we can not overcome those mistakes. How much different would this game have been had Oliver not cost us a TD with one fumble and given Temple a TD with the other?

Depends, with Graham playing the entire game, we may not score. What was his longest drive? I think he had one with any consistency.

The TO turnovers were devastating. But he moved the ball better than JG.

The trouble is that JG looks to be a better fit for this offense, even though he has not done as well moving the ball as TO in either this game or Clemson.

Edit:
By better fit, I mean the playcalling is more fluid and consistent with JG. I think Patenaude jumps around more with the TO playcalling.

Have you listened to his presser? He wants us to oddly give him credit. CGC basically couldn’t lose today in his mind, or that’s how he’s trying to sell it. There’s no other way to describe it.

For someone so in tune with messaging, I honestly can’t believe he continued to go down that road multiple times. That presser was embarrassing to Georgia Tech and his players.

Yes. It would have been much better for him to say that Temple really sucks and then explain why we suck more.

Assuming we scored, we lose 24-16

There are probably several other teams who will beat them to it.
Seems like ancient history when Joe Ham was running one of the top scoring offenses in college football

Temple had more talent

USF I think had more, or at least equal talent.

No excuse for the Citadel disaster. But I will add that The Citadel is closer to us in total talent than we are to Clemson or uga.

Temple’s recruiting classes for the last 3 years are 105, 82 and 119 on 247. Tech is 51, 44, 48. I’m sorry but I’m not buying into the Temple had better talent story. You don’t need a top 25 class to score more than 2 points against Temple.

I’m going to guess that their last 3 recruiting classes ranked higher than ours and that they did a better job of recruiting to specific positions rather than getting a bunch of athletes.

UNC has always had talent. I saw, in person, a UNC team that had at least six guys on defense alone, IIRC, go to the NFL, including Julius Peppers, get absolutely boatraced at Kenan Stadium ... by Furman.
I also saw them give up three TDs in one quarter to Peter Warrick that same year.
UNC's problems over the years haven't been talent.

Collins was there two years. That's midway into one recruiting cycle, one full recruiting cycle and then another not quite complete cycle.
His one full cycle netted Temple 9 3 stars. And 18 2 stars, I believe.
He didn't recruit the seniors, nor the grad transfers, we faced today, and there were quite a few of those.
