Stop Blaming the Previous Coach

CPJ recruited for a scheme that saw its heyday 20-30 years ago and isn’t well suited for any other form of offense. He left the roster without much on either line of scrimmage. He was able to recruit and leave behind decent OLB and DB talent, though. The roster makeup and lack of linemen will persist for a couple seasons. There’s no way around that, especially when the NCAA blocks all our transfers. The rest is on CGC: the poor play and coaching during the Citadel game, netting 300+ yards of offense without anything to show for it against Temple, etc.
Pot --- meet kettle.

Baseless meaningless commentary that lacks any analysis nor does it address legitimate issues and questions about our FB Program

Resorting to false accusations, hope you are happy
Haha so you are the same guy.

Your Orange Bowl drivel alone destroys any credibility to your baseless (and pointless) character assassination of the previous staff.

Defense might be better - but other than Clemson, it really hasn’t faced a good offense.
South Florida sucks, Tenple is average and Citadel still put up 300 yards rushing
And Clemson’s offense hasn’t been all that great this year either and they put up 400 plus rushing

No. It plainly does not. A continuation of the games in a series format does not add to the original slate of available slots. The same number of teams get selected for the initial bowls.

In the 80s and 90s the OB was must see TV with MNC implications

In many cases two undefeated teams, or a 1 vs 2 game, or 1 vs #3 or #4 that could yield a MNC

GT was a 3 loss Conference runner up playing a 3 loss MSU team that was LESS than a Conference runner-up

Are you telling me that the MSU OB had the same relevance as OBs in the 80s and 90s

Belittling the accomplishments of our previous coach is not going to win you any supporters. The OB was a great accomplishment and very fun game for GT Fans. I agree we made it even though we lost our conference and maybe it’s not as exclusive as 20+ years ago...but still was one of the brightest moments in GT football since 1990.

Dook was out Athlete-ing us, they were physically whipping PJ's undersized ankle divers and kneecap divers it had gotten to a breaking point

Last season Dook stopped us on several 4th & shorts by stalemating our OL like they were Clemson and we were some directional school
So were we out-athleting Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Miami when we ran it down their throats? And did UVA and VT out-athlete Duke when they pounded them?

Then GT fans need to stop being so thin skinned

GT fans are confused why Recruits didn't respond to our OB season and I'm telling guys why and they're arguing with how the rest of CFB perceived our OB season

Just like last season's Sugar Bowl that UGA lost it meant little to UGAs players but it meant a ton to Texas that hasn't made a CFP

How we see our program is less important than how Recruits see our program

Anyone take time to ask how the 4* & higher Recruits perceived our OB, they didn't become more interested in GT FB after our so called big win in the OB

Every analysis that GT Fans don't like isn't without merit

And Wake, who put up 59 on Duke?

We did out-athlete VPI in 2018. They were decimated by injuries, like our 2015.

This is a very similar team that won 7 games last season and probably should have won 9. Winning 7 games with "FCS" talent is damn near impossible. CPJ is Collins scapegoat, its a good thing CGC is a great promoter or more people would see he should be a head marketer and not a head football coach.

You guys that are blaming PJ sound like people who cry about the President for 4 years, and then when their guy gets elected and is even worse, they still blame the previous guy because they can't process the fact that they were wrong. You went from complaining about games where we scored 30 points but got stopped on a key drive, to trying to justify getting blanked by Temple.

Paul Johnson was a very good coach at GT. Not perfect, but usually good and sometimes great. He almost always had us punching above our weight, at times incredibly so. Those of you who thought he was a problem that we needed to be rid of should be embarrassed, especially after what we've seen so far. It was time for him to go, but saying he drove us to where we are now is absurd. We almost won our division just last season.

That being said, it's still too early to definitively judge Collins. He's obviously a better program salesman than PJ, so if he becomes anywhere near as good of a coach, we'll have some fun football to watch. Until then, we get to watch what happens when we no longer out-scheme our opponents on a weekly basis.
Jesus ööööing Christ! I’m tired of seeing this öööö, please go be a fan of a team that runs the triple option.

We lost a 1st team all ACC OL lock in Braun and a likely All ACC DT in Adams. Those weren’t CPJs fault and would have drastically changed the look of this team right now.

We could have damned near lost 2 more in Miami (who forced Richt to retire) and Virginia (which required OT theatrics). Just the same as we damned near lost to USF this year.

This isn't to single you out, more to address a comment made in a lot of different spots. Yes a similar team won 7 games last season, yes Johnson or an option coach would win more games this season. We aren't running that offense anymore. Any option plays we run this year Still will not be that offense. There's so much talk of "well we could run the ball before" but any running plays we do now are still probably very different. Maybe someone with more knowledge on football technique can refute me, but I just feel that whatever blocking schemes we're using now are still going to be different and require adjustment and training by the line even if we run similar looking plays.

I don't think it is blaming the previous coach to point out that this team lacks talent at several key positions and that is hampering the team's ability to win games.

Not only was recruiting not stellar under the previous regime, but player development seemed to be lacking as well. These are valid criticisms that help explain why we are where we are.

I think we would have a better record with a triple option offense this year, but I think we would continue to be stuck in the 6-7 win purgatory forever. Changing schemes is about aiming higher. We'll take some lumps and it could be ugly for a bit, but I'm glad to see that we want to try to compete at the highest level and we are trying to make some changes to get there.

Dood likely won't be drafted at all

OG is a lower value NFL position, many teams draft OTs and then if they can't hack it move them inside to OG

Guards that get drafted are elite and even the elite OGs can fall to the 2nd or 3rd Round

Shaq was 100X the player this guy is and he was drafted in the 4th round
I’ll be glad when you get the perma bam you so richly deserve.

If by "similar", you mean that 15 out of 22 starters are gone, then sure...they're similar.
You're an idiot.
