Radakovich really played the long game on us.

(1) Hire a talent killer coach at GT.
(2) Get wins vacated and get GT on probation by not cooperating with investigators during a joke NCAA witch hunt over $300 worth of clothes.
(3) Leave shortly thereafter like a thief in the night to our primary ACC Rival.
(4) Build some of the best facilities in the country at Clemson.
(5) Support Dabo’s ascension to one of the premier coaches in football, while helping establish Clemson as a perennial juggernaut who has 2 national championship rings and counting.
(6) Laugh at GT every Saturday, meanwhile Clemmons beats us by playing all players on their roster, plus the water boy.
(7) Profit

Agreed, plus the added bonus of lack of depth due to different personnel needs from the option. Our skill positions look ACC caliber, actually.
PJ’s last two classes and the one Collins inherited are actually pretty good. We started getting bigger in the secondary (Walton, Carpenter, K Oliver, Juanyeh), got some good backs, good QBs (Graham).... plus a guy who has to be on the field (Tobias) who even Collins calls elite.
PJ’s last two full classes were very solid

What always gets me is how the talent level of the service academies is so low that they have to run the flexbone but it is the greatest military in the world. Imagine if the academies recruited 5 stars out of Georgia, Florida and Texas. We would have the greatest military in the galaxy.

You’re kidding right? With the talent they will have running the option it will be 3 nattys in a row. And they will booty blast us.
That talent pool will quickly dwindle. PJ will do well with Gailey's...er, Dabo's boys but a "2010"-like season will arrive soon enough.

Which will be 14 inutes and 34 seconds before DRads house is burned to the ground and his entire family is tared & feathered.

Even with IPTAY money, water slides, and El Caminos L. Around?

The whole CPJ era was predicated on CPJ’s quote of “...what you’re doing isn’t working. Why not try something else...?”

We tried it, it worked quite well and this was one of the most decorated eras in our history. It has come to an end and we’re now trying something different again. Life is evolving naturally

Sweet mother of pearl!

You have really been denied access to GT's good years!

Maybe best rushing yearz but not total team years. Last r years are at 58% losing vs P5.

GT has dumbed itself down even more than imagined.

esp. given our start, there are plenty who'd happily go back to the glory days of 2017-18. It's gonna take a while to get the stench of IIWII football out of the program and fanbase. I mean, it took half-a-decade for people to start accepting those sorts of seasons as "good".

Those classes were good for CPJ and for his system, but those types of classes should not be thought of as good in our current era.

Recently, I was under the same thought that CPJs recruiting wasn't all that bad, then i looked at where we fell in recruiting against the ACC. We are in the bottom 30% in the past decade. Even in those "good" years, we were 8th or worse in the ACC. Oddly enough, our more experienced players are from the 2016 class which was 13th in the ACC, o my beating out BC (67th in FBS). We need to be in the top 3rd of the ACC at least, which looks promising at this point. I may do a little more research and draw up some more stats, but the comparison to the ACC is eye opening to say the least.

Good skill players. Most every coach has struggled to assemble really solid depth along the LOS.

Yeah, D-Rad really helped out Clemson by hiring the coach that beat Swinney more than any other coach. What a great move.

Show me another 7 year stretch in the past 50 years in which we won an ACC championship, an Orange Bowl (or any elite New Year's Bowl) and won 9 games three times.

You can't, because it never happened. Only ONE coach did ANY of those things, and even he had one flash-in-the-pan season that was bookended by relative mediocrity.

Please shut the öööö up with your degrading of one of the best eras of GT football of modern history. If you take away 2008-2014 (the era to which people are referring to), GT football has won something of note (conference championship, major bowl, nat'l title) exactly once since 1956. Why would you downplay those successes?

Paul Johnson doesn't have to be your favorite GT coach. O'Leary was also very good, as was Bobby Ross and lots of other guys before my time. Hell, I even think Gailey was a good coach who just couldn't get it done against UGA. But I will never understand why so-called GT "fans" would öööö on GT's biggest accomplishments in 20 years because they have a personal vendetta against the coach. It's crazy.

Even further, why post it on a message board? Some of y'all's posts read like Dwag fans insulting and belittling GT's accomplishments by nitpicking (still lost to Duke in 2014, still lost to UGA in 2009).

I just don't get it. Why is it apparently not possible for some of you to be proud of what we accomplished under CPJ but also excited about the new direction, improved recruiting, and rebranding of the program?

Absolutely agree, although I might even stretch it out to a 9 year period. 2016 was a fun season (even if including it means we have to also include the supremely disappointing 2015 campaign). 3-0 against SEC, started the streak against VPISU (I think that was the first back-up QB smackdown game), won a nail biter in Dublin, won the bowl game. I'm excited about the future, but I also had a lot of fun during CPJ's time.

Why 50 year table?

Maybe you should shut the öööö up because you have no concept what a great "TEAM" is.

No coincidence Army won its national championships in 1944, 45 and 46. Drafted the best players.
