Swinney rant

I can understand the frustration, but the reality is that Clemson will get in the playoff with a weaker schedule than any other playoff team team up to this point. They will, in effect, get in because people know they're great--not because they have a great resume. Their resume isn't much different than UCF's when they were left out.

None of this is really Clemson's fault, of course. They can't help it that FSU and the rest of the ACC sucks right now, or that South Carolina is coached by Muschamp, or that A&M didn't turn out to be that good.

He’s right. The SEC use to beat their chest about their scheduling. Now that Clemson destroyed the SEC narrative
last year by dismantling Bama they want to whine. Clemson is going to win again this year because they are the best team. LSU is very good but they have been pumped up by the media. Same with Ohio State. We’ve seen this before and we’ll see it again next year.

Navy is not joining the ACC, the ADs got rid of one of those, they're not taking on another IMO.

Dabbo thinks this bunch is better than last years bunch, he's working his kids mentally already, would not surprise me if they win it all again.

Clemson is top 4. Win out and they win a Natty. Why is he complaining?

Perhaps just looking for something external to further fuel his players. Perhaps he's just like most people and wants something to complain about.

Dabo was being 100% facetious. If you actually watch or read the entire rant, and not just the conveniently cut one, he talks about how the ACC has never gotten enough credit or respect. I agree with everything he said.

Says they have to go 30-0 because they don't play anybody :bigcry:

Agree with him however on the mutt bias
I totally agree with him. Stupid UGA loses to SC and everyone makes excuses for them. If that had been Clemson they would have dropped them out of the playoff discussion. Hate to say it but Clemson is a badass football program. They’d beat the $hit out of the perpetually overrated dogs.

Wonder if this guy thinks Clempson is any good.

Agreed. A couple of years ago the ACC was the toughest conference and Clemson has 2 SEC teams in SC and A&M that until a couple of years ago were in the running for winning the SEC several years.

Is there anyone of note who honestly doesn't believe that Clemson is very good? They're ranked #3, which is where they should be based on their quality of wins compared to Ohio State and LSU, but they may very well be the best team in the country. Time will tell.

So CFP hasn't resolved a thing when it comes to being "fair" about who deserves the title shot. Imagine how Penn State and Auburn felt finishing second in the final rankings after having finished 12-0 (1994) and 13-0 (2004) respectively. Didn't even get a shot at the title then.

CFP all but ensures no undefeated P5 team will be left out. There's always going to be a cutoff point whether you go to 4, 6, 8 etc. with the teams left out feeling screwed over. Only way to get rid of the gray areas is to say only conference champs make it, which I'd be fine with, but that still wouldn't fit everybody's definition of "fair."

To be the champ you have to beat the champ, and Clempson has not been beaten.

Other teams leapfrogged for television ratings of key games. No other reason.

I'm sorry, but that's a stupid take. Clemson's schedule has not been on the same level as LSU's or Ohio State's. Doesn't mean they're not better, but any reasonable Clemson fan would say the same.

You have an example of an undefeated two time defending champ getting jumped? I seem to recall Bama retaining #1 when they had a schedule so mediocre that the media had to pump up an MSU team we beat up as a juggernaut to make their schedule look better. But i could be mistaken.

Clemson didn't win the championship two years ago. Alabama did.

And Ohio State was ranked #3 at 9-0 in the first CFP of 2015 despite winning the title the year before (and guess who was #1?!). "Defending champ" isn't official criteria for the CFP committee, who ostensibly is only looking at this year (which is why the don't rank teams til November). Of course, we all know history still plays a factor, which is honestly a big part of why Clemson is still in with no wins over current top 25 teams.

Also, the Alabama team you speak of won games over 10-win teams, and several others who finished with 8+ wins. I think Wake is the only team Clemson has played that has at least 8 wins.
