Okay, I resign. But, remember. According to my post, I'm giving CGC four more seasons to recruit and coach. If everything is going great after the 2023 season (his fifth season, when he'll have all his recruits), my post won't come into play.

Do you not think four more seasons of CGC's recruiting and coaching will get us back to a seven win season? I sure hope so, and I believe it will.

I think he could win seven and beat Clemson and Georgia in 2022, and then go undefeated and win the national championship in 2023. That's what Bobby Ross did in years three and four, and he didn't even win a conference game in his first two and a half seasons.

Plus, Ross didn't have the budget or facilities that CGC has. So, let's think positively. He might have to bring in some coordinators like O'Leary and Friedgen, but I believe CGC can get it done.

Well, lets also be clear Collins, Patenaude and Thacker are NOT Ross, Firedgen and O'Leary.
Ross was a proven winner when he arrived, If not for Len Bias he would have stayed at Maryland. The reason Ross didnt succeed early on was he was a no nonsense coach and didnt cater to the rah rah nature of the players left by curry.
I hope Collins will turn it around but he wont. He doesnt have the assistants to get the job done.

Right, because we want more option coaches to relive the glory years of 2015-2018. Also 2010-2013.

3O guys need to face the facts: most kids today with NFL aspirations don’t want to play in it. If you want to compete for a P5 title then you have to run something else.

Collins deserves more time than you idiots are giving him. Recruiting is trending up and the team never gave up on him.

I'll humor you. Monken would step in with an athletic QB, amazing b-back, and NFL receiver already on the roster. He'd also have several future pros on defense. The patience would be for the next non-TO coach, after the level of talent Monken has mysteriously declines.
 
Sounds like we need a head coach rotation - one year of Collins to recruit followed by one year of Monken to run the TO, and so on.
 
Monkens defense just gave up 52 points to Hawaii. At least we gave up 52 points a playoff contender.

Monken would need Collins to coach for 3 years, so he'd have the players he needed.

Johnson went 20-7 his first two seasons, a winning percentage of .741.

With his own players, he went 63-54, a winning percentage of .538.

For reference, Chan Gailey had an overall winning percentage of .579, or if you throw out the first two years to account for his own players, .600.

The truth, in addition to the recruiting difficulties, is the more the opposing coaches and players see the 3O, the better they defend against it.

So what are you insinuating based upon these magical seasons under Gailey? That he was a good coach for GT, great coach, or HOF worthy? Remind me again how many times he beat Uga, how many Coastal and ACC championships he won, and how many BCS/NY6 bowl games he went to and won?

Also you do realize that the whole defensive familiarity with a scheme leading to improved competency defending it theory applies to all offensive systems right? So when we choose to run an “NFL style spread” like 95% of the nation, whose teams practice against it every single day, what gives you cause for optimism that it’ll actually be successful this time and lead to the above mentioned highs? And if the answer is “better players” I look forward to the glorious years when we start recruiting better talent than Clemson, Uga, Miami, etc who run and practice against the same said offense.
