we need to make room on the 85 limit to do that. we currently have 14 scholarships to give. to sign 26 and take 3-4 transfers, we'll need 15-16 current players to leave the program.

He's already redshirted and likely will have to sit a year. Doesn't make sense to bring him in. If we take a transfer QB, I see us taking one that's older and experienced to bridge the gap to younger guys coming in.

If we take a QB, then it has to be a player who is a no doubter to be eligible in year 1. If he has to sit, then I'd rather just allow the best of our guys to grow into the position.

No. That would be Clay Matthews Sr. who played for Tech and in the NFL. Clay Matthews had two sons and four grandsons who played in the NFL. Unfortunately, none of them chose to attend Tech.
George Morris also played for Coach Dodd and went on to the NFL.
