With the three conferences left, ACC, Big 12, and sec

The next too-early-to-speculate topic will be bowl games. I’d be surprised if any bowls want to reschedule to spring but it could happen. The ones with SEC and ACC tie-ins would have a hard time doing that, and the Xmas/New Years holidays are easier to sell TV time.

could be the catalyst to purge 30 of the BS ESPN I have to practice and Christmas in Shreveport bowls

I wonder if this could lead to any further conference realignment. I haven’t reviewed the B1G grant of rights or conference agreements, but say that OSU and Nebraska really want to play football. Does the conference decision allow them to get out of the conference and take their tv rights with them as a non-breaching party to the contract? Surely the ACC and SEC would be arms wide open to take those schools in as permanent members and it would collapse B1G.
Dont hold your breath on the B1G collapsing
I think this is an interesting but hypothetical question.

I would definitely be willing to take the case that whatever kind of contracts or grants-of-rights these schools entered into, they do not prevent you from playing in another conference if your conference is not playing at all. There's gotta be some kind of force majeure argument to let them out in a situation like that.

That said, the politics of university administration are too leftist to allow pro-football programs to leave conferences over a "political" decision like this one. Universities are driven much more by administrators and faculty (all overwhelmingly leftist) than by fans, alumni, sports programs, etc. The faculty wouldn't have much cared a decade ago when choosing a conference when it was about TV rights and travel schedules and such – but they would stringently object if the perception was that Nebraska (say) was leaving for a conference that was "anti-science" or "pro-Trump" or whatever other TDS-infected rationale they perceived.

No one is leaving the Big10 for the ACC. The money gap is that big.

And no university is giving up the educational partnership in the Big10 to join the SEC.

Couldn't Nebraska just play games without leaving the conference, and just play a season of out of conference games? I'm sure byu and others are looking for some games.

This huge money gap, exactly how far behind will the ACC be this year do you figure?

Maybe play in your conference and then set up a one game v sec or Big 12 and call it a bowl game, assuming Covid works.

There is a money gap, but what happens to that money gap if the biggest programs leave? The ACC with OSU would demand a huge increase in its tv deal and the BTN would presumably suffer in terms of its value.

The other consideration is what happens to the rosters of the schools who are not playing this fall. Does anyone attempt to transfer? Do stars like Fields go ahead and declare for draft? This could decimate the B1G rosters as compared to what ACC, SEC and Big12 experience.

None of this will happen of course other than perhaps roster depletion by the conference not playing. But I like the academic thought of whether B1G schools can escape the grant of rights and other penalties if they decided to go elsewhere due to this decision.

Maybe the SEC, Big 12 and ACC (before recent expansion) can just form their own country. It would be a strong one.

I would not be at all surprised to see some intersectional games now that there are only 3 conferences +2 teams left. Why the heck not? The TV money would be ridiculous and I think fans from all conferences would watch it. Pump crowd noise in - put cardboard cutouts in the stands! Let get this thing going! Besides, B1G and PAC12 fans weren't going to see any football even if their dumb conferences played anyway - might as well watch some real football from the ACC and SEC.
Cheerleaders and bands?

I can't see a sanctioned CFP without 2 of the P5, though I don't know the makeup of the committee. I could see an unofficial championship game for a poll based championship. If not, every undefeated claims a natty, I guess.

LOL so there can’t be a sanctioned playoffs without the PAC 12 who has sent 2 teams total or the B1G that more often than not gets either shut out or beat in their playoff games sans 2014? Get out of here with that BS.

Where is the NCAA on all this?
The NCAA has surprisingly little to do with FBS. They make the rules, but that's about it. CFP and bowls handle the championships. Conferences and schools create their regular season schedules. The NCAA chose not to shut down FBS, because it was a decision that was best left to the participating schools and conferences. Now, those conferences and schools are trying to figure out if they can make a go of it. I hope they can.

Nebraska going rogue is an interesting idea but my guess is that the conference owns their TV rights.
