Black Watch - Throwback Unis

The Black Watch was never given, it had to be earned. The players had to earn that black GT on the helmet. Not everyone had them.
 
We've given up 48+ three times this season. Given who we're playing this weekend it could happen again. I know they probably can't can a promotion in the middle of the season but "Black Watch is Back" rings extremely hollow right now.

...only thing left to do is shock everyone by holding ND to single digits and spoiling their season. It's not impossible, let's get after it.

I was young back then but I seem to remember Curry took away all the GT on all helmets until they were earned. Didn't we have a couple of games with just gold helmets because we were playing so bad?

Notre Dame held themselves to 12 points against Louisville, so it can happen!
 
The 1985 crew required twelve games to give up as many points as this team has given up in the last two. I don't think we deserve these jerseys right now and if I were coach, I'd put everyone in standard colors as a message.

No point getting hung up on this. It’s not performance-based, it’s a marketing thing. Earning or deserving it doesn’t factor into it, this is just “hey, remember when Tech had a good defense in the ‘80s.” They’re just throwbacks.

Curry had the team use black instead of blue as an accent. It was his 'mark' on the program. The season began with only gold helmets for everyone. The Black Watch was born, I forget exactly how, but homage to the Black Watch of Ireland, I believe that kept watch. The black GTs were added if you earned the right on defense to wear one. I don't remember anyone losing theirs.
 
One thing in common with that defense. We'll have a Swilling on the field.
 
The Curry era Black Watch teams were the teams that made me a Tech fan. I was a young kid and I thought these guys were so cool. That uniform played a big part of it. I gotta admit I'm real nervous about watching this defense that can't stop anybody wear the uniform that in my head has always stood for something.

We have a contract and these have been in the works for probably a year. I am sure they want them for a high profile game. Coach can't just say nah. Use them for inspiration.

LOL at fans thinking they have a say in what our student athletes "deserve" to wear on the field.

Players don't decide which fans "deserve" to get to attend the games so you don't get to tell the players what they deserve.

They look awesome so at least we have that going for us against ND. And I bet 'croots will like them.
