I’m enjoying this season. You have to enjoy making the cake in order to really enjoy eating the cake. Right now, we are still at the grocery store buying the ingredients. It’s a long game. But I understand our new culture in this country is instant gratification. I like index funds.

Not sure what you really expected. The game was evolving at the same time that we decided to turn back the clock in order to have a slight, temporary, schematic advantage. Then we couldn't even recruit to a level that maintained that system's advantages. You can't turn that around immediately. Could we be more disciplined; sure. Would it really make a difference; no.
best description I've seen so far... losing in 2009 to Ugag was a foretell of the years to come

Imagine you're watching the baker make the cake right in front of you. He promises you that the cake will be delicious, because he's going to start using the finest ingredients, so you're excited because you're pretty tired of the Great Value cake mixes you've had for the last 11 years, even though they were baked to perfection.

As he starts mixing the ingredients, you realize that he's having to use mostly leftover Great Value cake mix, with a few new ingredients mixed in - mostly from the old chef's shopping list. Right off the bat, he cracks eggshell into the cake mix. Then he puts double the required amount of flour into the mixing bowl. He puts it into the oven, but realizes after about 15 minutes that it's completely ööööed up. This may be the worst looking cake that you have ever seen.

No worries - he dumps it out and starts over. He's fairly new to baking, so maybe that explains the mistakes. Also, it's not his fault he's using stale Walmart cake mix.

The second time around, he's added in some brand new, super fresh ingredients. These ingredients are much higher quality than you're used to, so you're even more excited about the cake. After he mixes the ingredients together, he gives you a taste of the unfinished mixture. It smells like öööö and tastes even worse. Don't sweat it, everyone tells you. Once this thing bakes for 4 years, it's gonna taste amazing.

Maybe it really will turn out amazing in 4 years, but it definitely tastes like öööö right now. Literally the worst cake I have ever had, and I had a pretty bad cake 5 years ago.
Well it still has a lot of the old ingredients in it. And that’s the problem.

Why in the hades are you trying to eat a cake before it’s ready? Don’t blame the chef because you wanted fast food.

So our marketing guy is now getting political? Is he an idiot or some great strategy I don’t get?

Bill Lewis did not pull off the biggest transition. One could argue that Nebraska pulled off as big a transition as us post Osborne... and look how crappy they have been since. It’s not easy!
As for tough years, I lived through 1980 and 1981, our worst in history. I have never stopped supporting the team. I can be very analytical but attacking in order to damage, never. I don’t get the whining this year or last.
Yes, I always wondered why people thought Curry rebuilt our program. The 70's under Rodgers was on the verge, talented rosters, inconsistency, but never 1 win seasons. Curry rebuilt the program from his first 2 seasons, then laid an egg in Athens 31-24 in 1986.

Have you ever tried to speak logically to a woman during “that time of the month?”

That’s kind of what you’re doing now.

Then you’re young. I remember cakes that were way worse.
