The last 12 minutes of the Notre Dame game is a perfect synopsis as to why Coach Collins will never fix this.

Busted coverage on first play
Busted protection on all plays
and then 3rd and 2 leads to:
False start AFTER time out
Delay of game
Snap when no one else is ready

This has been my biggest disappointment with CGC. He came in known as a defensive specialist, but his defenses have been close to abysmal (in terms of defensive FEI):

2019: 93
2020: 88
2021: 94 (*Through 8 games)

To his credit, he's increased the talent on our roster. You can say that increase in talent has been wasted with no appreciable improvement in performance. In fact, at this rate, with the 5th most talented roster in the ACC according to 247 recruiting service, we are on track to have the worst DFEI in CGC's 3 years at GT.

How bad has our defense been? The worst season we had since the Bill Lewis was the HC is CPJ's 2015 3-9 season. That year our DFEI was 48. That was under Ted Roof. Remember Roof? GT fans' favorite punching bag until he left for Appalachian State. Roof actually had multiple DFEI seasons in the 40's and 50's. Ted Roof also had less talent to work with.

IMO, if you have a calling card, but you're no longer good at what your calling card is, then we have a problem. This is like if CPJ came in and our rushing offense was horrendous.

When we beat UNC early this season, and we put on one of the most dominant defensive performances GT has had in a long time, I thought we may have turned the corner. Maybe it finally clicked for our guys and we would get similar results going forward. Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like fool's gold.

Below are the three top areas that I believe gets us into trouble every weekend. I believe that at least the top two areas are on CGC.

1. Culture vs. accountability: I'm all for having more energy in the program. Not a fan of the juice crew personally, but I applaud CGC's efforts to rebrand and appeal to more recruits, more ATL base, etc. The #1 problem with this team IMO though, is that you can still do all of the things you need to do to make this a fun place to be but still hold players accountable. I don't see the accountability. I see players making undisciplined plays, and yet, those same players keep trotting out. It may be that we are that thin across the board. But I doubt it. Stop telling the players you love them after we lose and start holding them accountable.

2. Game day coaching: We make way too many mistakes, from play calling (such as the playcalling when we knew we were going for it on 4th and long), clock management (no more details needed), failure to adjust when the other team adjusts, etc.

3. Defensive communications: No clue what is going on here. Perhaps this is on Thacker. Perhaps not. Or perhaps this goes back to #1. But the number of times someone is running wide open downfield is unbelievable.

The Jackets lost 55-0 at Notre Dame. It’s the largest losing margin for Tech in a shutout since at least the 2000 season. The Jackets (3-8) have lost five games in a row since beating Duke, which has lost seven consecutive. Tech’s 2-6 ACC record is worse than all league teams except Duke (0-7). Their is no Improvement...It might be time to clean house ....Winning 5 games next year is not going to bring the fanbase back.

As some have said recently, it will cost Georgia Tech more NOT to fire Coach Collins than to keep him on for another year or two. While we still have talent, the time is now to get someone who knows what they are doing. If not, we will lose more money, lose talented players via the transfer portal, and our entire athletic program will suffer as a result. This is the worst situation I have seen Tech's football program in my lifetime. I'm too young to remember clearly the period from 1979 to 1981.

He forgot to assess or mention how many of those other coaches disregarded and insulted their fanbase.
D
WGAF? I don't need him sucking my d!ck as a 40 year alumnus. I need him winning football games. I would not GAF if he said every Tech graduate ever is a clownish poltroon, as long as he consistently goes 9-3.

All that guy wrote might be right, but I have a hard time imagining Ross, or GOL, or CCG, or CPJ ever going TOFSDOGES. Or changing his mind on 4th and goal after hearing the crowd reaction, as CGC did against NIL. Or . . . You know - actual coaching? In his third year.

He's going to get another year to show something. Maybe he will get two. Three + years of his own Croots. If he doesn't show anything by then, he won't get any longer.

When he got pressed at the post game presser Saturday, Clown said they evaluate everything about the program.

My disappointment was there was no follow up question. What the press gaggle needs to ask is, "OK, what kinds of changes have taken place from the continual self-evaluations?"

Do you just copy and paste the same response to every thread?

At least you've moved on from W.I.N.B.A.T.T., over whatever your cute little acronym was.

I haven’t been to the Hive in a long time, but you know it’s bad when they have a “Bill Lewis Appreciation Thread” on the first page.

Wasn’t it a bannable offense to quote the Hive?
These are changing times... Unthinkable alliances are now thinkable.

The founder of the Hive apparently asked a very tough question in the post ND press conf. I can't watch the press conference - I can't listen to Collins but it seems even the Hive has turned on Collins. That's pretty much the last stop before the cliff.

Someone will need to fill in my gap of GT football in ‘87 & ‘88. Spent more time in HOA & Middle East than CONUS. I find it hard to believe Ross ran the dive play more than Curry. To me that is mindboggling. Curry ran the dive OFTEN.

Questions:

Did the DB know what the correct coverage was on that play, was he coached to do listen to the Def Calls and then execute the proper Coverage?

Was the blocker(s) coached to make the necessary block(s) in a fundamental way within the Rules on those plays?

After the timeout did our Players not know to avoid a false start, or snap the Ball on time?

Does the Center not practice silent snap or whatever is used when playing on the road, many Teams have a Guard tap the Center on his side to let him know when the QB is ready for the snap, almost all levels of FB use something similar, yet only GT has this issue?

The teacher taught the same things to OLs at Bama and had none of these issues, did the teacher forget how to do his job, or are there other variables at play?

The quality of sports journalism is so sad and low these days. Most of them can barely write, and they certainly can't ask questions. They get paid very little, and generally they deliver very little quality content.

That said, it's a bit like people covering celebrities in Hollywood. These journalists' audience want 'inside info' and access to the program and details that aren't commonly known. CGC is under no obligation to talk to Ken if he doesn't feel like it, and Ken getting really pointed and putting CGC in (what CGC would see as) an embarrassing situation to be publicly dressed down... is just going to make it even harder for Ken to do his job. IOW, Ken doesn't have a lot of good options on how to cover this trainwreck.

I could coach a secondary to be in better position than ours has been the past few weeks. Our opponents have had the most wide open receivers that I have ever seen in major college football.

I never visit any other GT sports sites and can't keep track of who is what. People get awfully upset whenever anyone is banned. Then again they get pretty upset when people aren't banned either. Such is life.
Thin-skinnery I presume.

I think the variables at play are that Geoff Collins needs to be fired. At Bama Nick Saban holds Players accountable. At Georgia Tech Collins tells them he loves them. It's a Head Coaching problem for sure! Our #1 issue with Geoff Collins is accountability: I I don't see the accountability. I see players making undisciplined plays, and yet, those same players keep trotting out. It may be that we are that thin across the board. But I doubt it. Stop telling the players you love them after we lose and start holding them accountable.
