This is a real head scratcher, but here’s what I understand are the relevant financials.

1. We owe G*C* $14M if we fire him Sunday, $7.2M at end of next year, $4.8M in 2023.

2. As part of that Oregon St contract dispute, GT paid $1.5M to pay off the Beavers and reduced Stansbury’s contract by $300k/yr thru 2026. We’re now paying him $650k/yr.

The big money guys must have told him to eff off. Not a good sign because this means we’ll have this imbecile for probably 2 years and maybe 3. Likely scenario is 9 more wins for GT football, fire both Stansbury and G*C* right after the 2024 mutt game. It’s a minimal buyout & GT shows it’s utter disregard for its student athletes and fans.

I think we’re stuck with Key until his BS contract runs out next year. I’m not sure anyone has the nuts to fire Goober, they’ll offer up Thacker as their tribute to appease the masses. Blame the whole season on him & pray to God we can muster 4 wins next year. Thacker gets a hug on the way out & effusive praise for the great job he did.

The only other alternative is Stansbury is trying to reverse Homer Rice’s legacy & turn us into a 1AA school and maybe move us into the Southern Conference with Citadel and Furman. We might be able to pick up a trophy or two that way in some of the minor sports.

I’m confused, are we supposed to be shrinking differential or creating margin?

Season ticket sales will be awful next year. Disinterested Tech fans and no uga home game to induce a lot of uga fans to buy Tech season tickets (this happens).
this was year 23 for me with season tix. i was on the fence about renewing. im not ready to make a decision on next year but there sure isnt much to look forward to barring massive turn around. i did just buy 5 tix to Clemson @ GT hoops. looking forward to that.

To Hell With Geoff! #THWG Here’s what I expect will happen: After 3 years, Geoff Collins will fire at least one (if not both) of his coordinators, finally making changes to the staff that remains intact from when they were originally hired almost 3 full years ago, and some will say we need to give his program a second chance with the new coaching staff. Next year, there will be some sort of offseason slogan on shirts and hats like “W.I.N.B.A.
.” (which, of course, stands for “W.I.N., But Actually This Time”), we’ll hear about how great the new schemes are looking and how everyone’s getting better every single day, and we’ll talk about expectations that the team will be able to win 7-8 games. They won’t, and instead will go about 4-5 wins with at least one downright head-scratching loss. Geoff Collins will be relieved of his duties as Georgia Tech’s head coach, and we’ll start the process all over again, hopefully with some improved on-field results.

I am on board. We should have more depth and some talented upperclassmen. Get some new assistants and go back to a normal football practice. 6-8 wins. I got just enough juice left in the tank to talk myself into believing.
And who is going to be coaching them? Geoff hasn’t improved game day management one iota in 3 years. The position group he was supposed to be known for is getting shredded weekly and getting worse if that is possible.

Any remotely competent staff would be going to a minor bowl game with the crappy ACC coastal.

Depressing öööö that Geoff will be back regardless of the 50+ point beat down coming Saturday.

Collins is gone if the result is embarrassing embarrassing enough on Saturday, whatever that means. The money is in place.

If he stays complete defense overhaul. Likely OC replacement as well.

This Is what some bird on my shoulder told me. Happy Thanksgiving all.

I hate this, he was only here for 1 season, not everyone is destined to start from Day1 in a P5 Conference.

We need fast OLBs , I have no idea why, in a Season of non Stop cluster-fv*ks on Defense, we didn't see a guy like Wright play, just to see what we have(had) for the future.

Did he play on kick coverage teams?

Surely he must've shown some potential there, I hope we aren't losing the wrong Guys to the Portal

Do we assume our AD made this statement with the approval of the major donors and the administration?

This post really did age poorly.

As soon as you posted, the AJC released an article where TStan doubled down on CGC, to quote TStan, "I have my man......."

At least the guy in charge has some big cajones!

Not surprising. Makes sense to do this before Saturday.

Seat is now hot, win next year or it's over.
