THE OFFICIAL Firing, House Cleaning, Night of Long Knives, Celebration, Disappointment Thread.

The one thing Thacker does well is recruit. He is a local Atlanta boy as well and the players I know seem to like him.
This move is for continuity - keep what few talented players we have on D out of the transfer portal.
As long as he isn’t calling plays, Im good with him staying on.

Agreed. I want to like Thacker, anyway. He just wasn't ready for DC

Boy if they keep Thacker (DC), the next season will begin with nuclear meltdown heat on the defense for Thacker and Collins.

If this is true and TStan is onboard with it, just cancel the program. He should've been first to go, and he's staying? May as well just wave the white flag if that's the case. Insanity.

Only reason to keep thacker at DC is because g**** wants someone he can control. A good dc will keep the clown in his place. Thacker seems like a good guy, but clearly is in over his head as dc. We graded out worse than GSU by fei. That's unforgivable.

Well, if they weren’t going to fire Collins this is an ok alternative. New OC, new DC and we keep Thacker/Key for recruiting. I like Thacker as a person but boy his defense stunk. The next change needs to be Collins persona. Stop with the gimmicks and learn to coach. Realize whatever you were doing the past 5 years as a head coach was not working. I believe in his idea that GT can draw players, but no one will want to play for a coach who can’t win. Show a pulse and we can get players. We are at the lowest point we can get so I hope Collins realizes he was given a life preserver and he has 9 months to become a football coach.

Better yet, do any of y'all have a pic of me in lingerie? Check your inboxes!

Somebody quote verbatim what they said about Thacker's role change. I ain't joining Rivals to find out. Oh and no posts at all on Ramblinwreck.com. Chickenshiits.

This is literally the only thing that would make any sense. If we're betting on recruiting and he is important to to that.
The defense overall was horrendous, but our LB's were probably the best position group on that side of the ball. As some have said earlier in this thread, Thacker was a position coach trying to be a DC and had no business in that role.

This sounds like about the best we could hope for at this stage. Impossible for us to know all the internal dynamics about who owned the worst of our awful defense, who can best retain/recruit players.
So who will replace Patenaude as OC?
I assume this got everybody’s attention - so if we come out next year, get stomped by Clemson, lose to WCU looking as disorganized as we did against NIU, it won’t be because the coaches idiotically think they’re still in some rebuilding phase where it doesn’t matter.
I guess 6 wins next year and we keep going to a 5th year. Will be interesting to see if either new coordinator looks like a standby HC in waiting.

Actually, you don't, since here is a pic I took from my seat yesterday.

If you don't sit directly over the C, then you've proved once again you're nothing but a liar. You've backed yourself into a corner.
