Almost every kid out of high school puts 4.5 forty as their time if they play CB, RB, WR, etc.

However...at the NFL combine this week only 2 CB's ran a sub 4.50...(Nicholls State's Lardarius Webb- 4.46 & Illinois' Vontae Davis- 4.49).

Among running backs, only 4 of them ran a sub-4.5.....they were Virginia's Cedric Peerman- 4.45; Boist State's Ian Johnson- 4.46, Purdue's Kory Sheets- 4.47, and NC State's Andre Brown- 4.49.

I have seen forty times of players a full .50 seconds slower than their claims in high school and/or college....and this is after training on proper forty technique for the combine!

At the end of the day...football speed is what matters most.

It's a conspiracy by the NFL teams to intentionally time them slower in order to reduce the rookies' salaries.

I heard Obama is limiting the rookie salaries. The American people are tired of overpaid athletes.

It would be cool to compare scout or rivals 40 times with the NFL combine times.

It would be interesting to back and see who had the biggest overstatment in HS. The Great Knowshon....

HS from Rivals
5'11" 205lbs 4.48

NFL Combine
5'10.5" 217lbs 4.61

So 12lbs of presumably muscle = 0.13 seconds slower in the 40.

He may do that, or he may just bail out the teams that draft an under-talented player and then overpay him. After all, it's not their fault, they were taken advantage of by the system.

I'm thinking you're kidding but at Indy's old stadium with the old turf they made us for several years run on the sideline where the turf wasn't as matted down as it was in the middle of the field and on top of that they use to water it down. My SR. year I ran like a 5.1 and at the combine my best time was just below 5.7. All they do is give you a little wink cause they know we know what's going on.

I'm not kidding but in highschool I ran a 4.6 on a stopwatch. I was 2nd fastest on my team in 100yrds (not timed, just from daily wind sprints). If I were to play football at GSU not to mention GT in 2003 my freshman year I would have been murdered by how fast thoes guys were.

Also, I was never "football speed" fast, any pads-weight or a ball in my hand really slowed me down. Being 6'1" and 150lbs in highschool will do that to ya.

Thank you for educating us oh wise one. We worship at the knowledge that you bestow.

Is there a more useless number than 40 speed for an OL?
