RULES at spring practice coverage....

I'm not about to question the reasonableness of the coaching staff's request. However, it seems that the video and formation pictures are the big issues whereas the Hive post makes the problem out to be much broader. Is there a reason for the incongruence in these messages? The hive has always turned me off because that post like others comes off as elitist and demeaning. The internet and message boards in particular seem to be the perfect place for someone to talk down to others without having to confront them. Seems this could all be solved very easily by someone politely asking the supposed offender not to continue whatever it is that is unwanted.

I definately respect the staff's choices. I just hope the message isn't lost in translation where it goes from a simple reasonable request to a hive driven mandate. I have a feeling it could have a definite chilling effect...especially the whole "you're lucky you get anything at all" attitude.
The message passed on was from the coaches, not the Hive. There's also no mandate, just a plea to keep practice open. In fact, the Hive would benefit from closed practices because Scout writers would be admitted as part of the media which would make the insiders's board potentially worth more to fans. The paranoia towards a website is really amazing.

Why doesn't he just close practices? In my opinion, the players would be able to concentrate better and practice would be more efficient.

Nah, if practice is closed....Its CLOSED.

Meaning no media inside.

because the AA has asked them to keep them open so the fans dont write stupid stuff on a message board about the AA not caring about fans and other such nonsense

Wesley, thank you for making just another dumb ass lawbee thread that was completely worthless all the way around, otherwise enjoyable.

It isn't a factor. It's not as if the fans/media are out there running through the drills or sitting through setting off air horns in the middle of practice. Coaches/players don't pay that much attention to who's on the sideline.
Besides, didn't Tiger's daddy jingle his change and keys in the young boy's backswing to get him to not pay attention to the background noise? (and now a fly farts 100 yards away and Stevie Williams finds the fly and breaks his knuckles).

Nah, if he closes practice to everyone there are no reporters. But he has closed practice to the public and allowed credentialed press access.
