Offensive stalling in the second half

This seems to be ongoing issue every game even when we win. We started it early last Saturday, it wasn’t even the third quarter. This isn’t something that will get fixed by demoting Thacker. It’s not a talent issue, Is it playcalling or lack of motivation in execution?

I am merely a fan, but it seems like we could get the TE's we have on some of these short 7-10 yard hitches. Get them in space as a check down, at least.

I think it is a lack of experience for our QB in the system. We come out and the D adjusts. King doesn’t have the experience in the offense to audible based on what he sees. We adjust more slowly based on unfamiliarity on how teams are defending us.

Yea, I was surprised we didn't have a hot route when BG had 8 in the box.

I think King is a far more intelligent and experienced QB than you give him credit for.
 
The O has proven it can score fast, but it’s not yet good enough to do it on a consistent basis. Just 1-2 miscues during a possession seems to be insurmountable for them, resulting in a quick three and out. When the O can’t stay on the field, it just get worse for the D. The ineptness of the D might be putting added pressure on the O to score every time or to at least have extended drives to keep the worst part of the team off the field.

How exactly do you look at this drive chart and say it is the Defense’s problem? Punt, punt, fumble, punt, downs, Int.

I don’t think this offense resembles the one at ATM at all. He has had 1 offseason and 5 games in this offense. As his comfort and his OCs comfort increase, the dead periods will get shorter and shorter.
 
The offense seems to do well when they know what the defense is doing and can move the ball downfield in a hurry before they can adjust. Whenever the field shrinks down or defense makes an adjustment or we get off schedule on down and distance, we don't seem capable of countering what they're doing by going "off script" and the drive(s) will bog down. We need to do a better job of tweaking on the fly to sustain drives. A lot of that starts with getting better at running the ball which we only seem to do well out of the pistol.

Because we are a P5 defense. Our defense should NEVER have allowed that TOP to a MAC school. UGAg has far from a perfect offense, but I guarantee you BG would have been absolutely smothered by them. Passes would have been defended/picked. The UGA offense, if it stalled for a drive, would get it back because a MAC team should never dominate a P5 like that.

They had more TOP because we couldn't keep our offense on the field. Are you choosing to ignore that, or do you just not understand how football works?

Again, I think you are underestimating his abilities. When the plays are called that actually utilize his talents, he does great. It's the plays that Faulkner calls that don't utilize him in any way other than to hand the ball off that don't work.

I agree we could get a lot more yards out of the running game using his legs. But he is the best QB we have had in a considerable amount of time. Risking an injury isn’t worth it. Although I think that is exactly what needed to get called to keep some of the drives against BG going.

I can't say anything about the play calling not knowing what the coaches see upstairs but it would be nice if we made any adjustments after the defense makes adjustments to our offense.

I'm not just talking about his ability to run. I'm talking about utilizing his obvious passing abilities more than Faulkner has been doing. Until Saturday, I don't remember seeing a crossing pattern this season. That may not always get many yards, but it does almost always get some. King can throw the ball, so, since we don't have a big bruiser at RB, then why not throw virtually all the time. Haynes and Cooly can run wide pretty damn well, so pitch it more too, rather than trying to break through the line.

check out the "Obtained"... 7 of them are Kickoff.. that means they scored 6 times on our defense and 5 of them were in a row.. not good
