Chris Jackson?

Also, as I head to bed for the night, ponder this:

What's the difference in this situation and the kid that was told his offer would be rescinded if he went to an AU visit? Neither can make up their mind.

To me there is a big difference. Chris didn't know what to expect from PJ. All he knew was what everyone was telling him regarding PJs passing game and his use of WRs from his time at Navy. As a WR AND as a recruit who had yet seen what PJ would actually do at Tech, this makes for a completely different situation than with Aycock.

Granted, I never got the "insider" info on Chris' decommittment. I have just assumed that he was informed poorly from friends or from Saban.

So, compare it to this:
-Girl decides to go out with you
-Girl finds someone else she likes better
-It doesnt work out
-She comes back

How would you feel about that?

You're a bitch anyways, so you'd probably be fine with it. You strike me as the "I'll put up with bull**** if it might help win a game, principles don't matter" type.

i would agree with that analogy if we hadn't had a coaching change in there.

that brings in a whole different set of circumstances to the analogy. Maybe like:
-girl decides to go out with you
- you go through a big change(let's go with plastic surgery for S&G)
-she hears rumors you got the hiv with that change
-she finds someone else, but then realizes you don't actually have the HIV like the guy she ended up with told her
-she dumps the jackass and comes back to you on hands and knees.

analogy kind of fell apart:rolleyes:

It's more like a chick at work has a crush on her boss. Wants to bang him. He gets canned and replaced. The new guy is different, but there are others in management who are known for being OK bangs. A year goes by, and now she has a crush on the "new" manager. She heard he's an even better lay. Sadly, this would never happen in any engineering firm I've worked in. Unless said girl was a dude, and management was gay.

You have it about right. Chris spoke nothing but great things about GT even after he switched his commitment to Bama. I feel like he probably didn't burn in any bridges because he decommited very soon after CPJ was hired. He just got some bad advice and some promises from Saban and his crew. Hell, he was told he wouldn't get passed to at Tech, yet they put him on defense at Bama. Go figure.

Unless said girl was a dude, and management was gay.

You implying that management can't be a woman? Have you ever been in or seen a management class?!

Makes a frat party look like a sausage fest (only counting those parties that are not, in fact, sausage fests)

Consider that Chris Jackson was a 17 year old kid in 2007. He had a ton of pressure to stay away from GT, as people were scaring him and telling him that he'd never be able to play since GT runs the ball 90% of the time. Now that he's seen GT play for a year (and seen the run and shot package), his view of CPJ has changed. I'm okay with that.

He's still a good player and would be one of the top 3 WRs on our depth chart. HELL YES, I would love to have him back.

Sorry but most of you guys are being completely unfair. You have a high school WR who wants to be what most believe WR's do: catch the ball. Certainly PJ's offense did not have the reputation for throwing the ball so the kid felt like we were not a good match.

So he went elsewhere. After a while he decides that the position issue is less important to him than the people he hangs with, the school he goes to, etc.

And you are attacking him? This is incredibly ridiculous. Give the kid a chance. If PJ wants him, then I want him.

Because if a guy tells you he's coming you change your recruiting of other players. If that guy backs out, you have been hurt because you could have gotten another player.

If a guy says he is not coming, he doesn't hurt your chances. Jackson is hurting bama by leaving. But losing players is part of the game.

IIRC, Jackson backed out pretty soon after Chan was fired. CPJ then tried to get Jackson to re-commit. He didn't. If he wants to come here and sit out a year, that is up to CPJ to decided. I'm not going to bust on a guy who wants to play for GT.

The significant "unknown" factors surrounding CPJ's offense at the start of last year made GT a much easier school to recruit against. After the level of success that was achieved coupled with a greater understanding of just how our new "O" works, you have to think that we're much more attractive to recruits now than we were last year.

I certainly can't fault a HS senior for making what turned out to be a "not so great" decision. I shudder to think about what I felt were terrific ideas in 1960!

When we canned Gailey and hired PJ, Chris made a lot of drama by decommitting, and then makiing a soap opera out of GT's next hire. When we hired PJ, he basically said "hell no" and committed to Saban and Bama.

He committed to Gailey. Not GT.

BOR...I think you are the one contributing the drama here.
Chris Jackson was an early enrollee..he had 10 days after the PJ hiring to make a decision...and had been tole by his "mentor" for weeks, maybe months, leading up to that time that he should be looking at Alabama. Plus you had the latest in traitors, Geoff Collins, over there pulling on him.
When CJ announced he was not coming to GT, the first thing out of his mouth was that he loved GT and all of its coaches, fans, blah blah blah...that his family would always remain GT fans...and that he was certain Paul Johnson would be successful at Georgia Tech. He just thought at that time (that 10 day period of time) that being somewhere else would be the best thing for him.
Ultimately, PJ will make the final decision and only he knows how he should feel about the entire thing...whatever he decides I am fine with.

I agree completely. Kids make mistakes. As long as they handle themselves the right way I have no problem with him rethinking his decision and if he and PJ agree tha Tech is the right place for him I'm behind it 100%.

The point is whether you believe her now. People make mistakes. If you think she's just jerking you around you say no. If you believe she sees that it was a mistake and you still have feelings you give it a shot.

Looking at the number of scholarships over the limit Bama is going to be, I have a feeling that this transfer might not be entirely his idea.

And to all the people crying about him decommitting, grow up. College football is not dating. The students should do whats best for themselves, it's their lives.

+1

Personally, I'm banking on the hope we get our passing game together. We all know we can run the ball. If the OL gets their act together and figures out how to pass block and give Josh enough time to get comfortable, as an offense we will be unstoppable.
If Chris wants to make another go of it at Tech, I'd be on board with giving him a shot. I haven't met him, and only remember this happening through the news, but I dont have a problem with a kid having a change or heart. Gailey was his guy, but buying into the team aspect Johnson brings is doable for anyone. Bring him back. We all know he'd have to earn his shot from Johnson, and lord knows another pair of hands that can catch would be a welcome addition.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I believe in 2nd chances. Everyone deserves one.

Regardless of how a Chris Jackson might eventually perform for Georgia Tech, wouldn't there be some propaganda value that would come out of the situation? Four star athlete goes to Ala-damn-bama with Nick Saban, plays a year, leaves and in the end declares Georgia Tech and Paul Johnson superior in every way. I would think that would be a useful tool when talking with high school players.

It certainly wont hurt.

then kick Anthony Allen off the team too. we recruited him, but he stilted us and went to Louisville. Then he came back. Same with Tashard Choice and John Dewberry.

people make mistakes. Chris had his feelings hurt. he was 18 years old. he changed his mind

and if a girl goes out with another guy means that you will not go out with her, then you will have to move to Thailand or somewhere else where you can find you some 14 or 15 year old, because most women have already gone out with and probably had sex with another man

dumbass

+1!

It is important to remember that this is a 17-18 year old KID that said and did the things he did. Every 17-18 year old is going to have D-bag moments. It's part of growing up. If CPJ wants to give him another shot I'm all for it.

PJ already knows the kid has talent so let him walk-on and if he proves himself offer him a scholarship. Everybody makes mistakes.
