Greg Paulus starting QB at Syracuse

Actually, even if he'd redshirted in basketball (making him 5 years from enrollment), he would still have one year.

as usual, you are WRONG

Paulus, 22, will need a waiver from the N.C.A.A. to use his final season of eligibility at Syracuse. Because Paulus completed his undergraduate degree (in political science) at Duke in four years and did not redshirt, he can apply for a waiver to use while attending graduate school.

if he had red-shirted and played four years of hoops, he would have used all five years up. b/c he finished his FB eligibility, he doesnt have to sit out a year either - which normally he would have to do

More evidence that you are wrong:

Now, you might be asking how a guy who also has worked out for an NFL team and finished four years of college basketball could play college football.

Well, while Paulus is a senior and has used up his basketball eligibility, but he has a year left of football eligibility. According to NCAA eligibility guidelines, “The first time you enroll anywhere as a full-time student, you start your five-year clock of eligibility. If you play in Division I, you have five-calendar years to play four seasons of competition — even if you are not enrolled, even if you go part time within that time frame.”

Paulus was never a basketball redshirt at Duke, so as an undergraduate transfer he would be eligible to play football at another school.

GSU ... just not a good place to learn things

It's not like its Winston-Salem State, Pfeifer, or Limestone or some tiny nothing school. Its a D1 football program. If you're not even remotely impressed by that, then you have no concept for what's involved athletically to be able to play at that level.

We're not comparing him to ourselves. Obviously it takes a lot of talent to be a D1 quarterback. Hell, it takes a lot of talent to be a D3 quarterback. But when you're talking about college football, Syracuse is not a decent team, and it's definitely not the same thing as if he had walked into Clemson or GT and won the starting job.

So where did I say anything about Paulus? You said Syracuse is decent, I said they aren't and I think anyone who pays any attention would agree with me. Are they D1-A? Sure. Is he a good player relative to the majority of HS players? Definitely. Is he above average for D1-A programs? I have no idea. But Syracuse is NOT a decent team. They suck and they have sucked since Reggie and CJ blew them up in the bowl game.

Honestly, I'm pretty impressed. They're a decent football team, and for him to move in like that take a starting position speaks well of his athleticism.

Basketball players are the best athletes in any sport...especially when compared to those candy asses who play soccer.
:laugher:

What a dumb comment. Some people on here that claim to be sports gurus really dont have any clue about sports or athleticism.

Anyone who has played soccer and a wide variety of other sports knows how hard it is. Nothing against basketball, but people like you always pass soccer off as a candy ass sport, and most of them would not last 20 minutes on the field with the kind of contact and speed it requires.

Let me give you a hint: the vast majority of people who say that are just trying to piss soccer fans off. In fact, a lot of the people who say it actually enjoy the occasional soccer game. It's just that the overreactions a lot of people give are funny.

Sorry, I've not enrolled in any "NCAA Rules" classes at GSU.

My information came from ESPN. I don't have the wherewithal, in terms of desire, to sit around and double check them.

Where do you think the Dukie's learned how to take dives? The Duke soccer team (grass fairies)

Ok, where are the 'FACTS"?

simple logic shows that if an athlete must complete all play within five years of first enrollment, then Paulus would have already passed the five year limit had he spent a RS year at Duke

it aint rocket science, its simple "5 to play 4" doesnt matter that he didnt play football til now, the clock starts as soon as you enroll in a college

thus the difference between your average Tech student and your average non-Tech student...

no wherewithal...

It's not like this is a common situation that you hear about every year. You typically hear of people referring to one sport in terms of the "five to play four" business. However, as you said, you took your time to research it, because your mission is to prove me wrong.

My mission is to watch you work so hard to prove me wrong. It makes me laugh.

You could have stopped at the first post and not made yourself look as stupid.
