Greg Paulus starting QB at Syracuse

It's not like this is a common situation that you hear about every year. You typically hear of people referring to one sport in terms of the "five to play four" business. However, as you said, you took your time to research it, because your mission is to prove me wrong.

i didnt research it. i found supporting evidence for what i already knew from common sense. it doesnt matter what other sport he played. for football, he has five to play four no matter what.

My mission is to watch you work so hard to prove me wrong. It makes me laugh.

You could have stopped at the first post and not made yourself look as stupid.

ask any employer that likes to hire Tech grads. the main reason is that they do too much work in too little time and still do a decent job -- thats called effort and stick-to-it-iveness, which you called wherewithall.

this is a fact about Tech, not an insult to anyone else

The amount of time CS majors spend in the computer lab there definitely attests to that....

Who gives a ****? I've not bad-mouthed Georgia Tech even once. That's you that's bothering with the badmouthing of a school.

You're really reaching to make yourself feel good. Gotta do what you gotta do I suppose.

to be honest, i just hate your stupid avatar. it has nothing to do with Tech, nothing to do with football, and nothing to do with anything of quality. FAIL

move along now, keep copy/pasting bad info that you got on the internet without thinking...

Seriously, GSU, what's up with your avatar.

:ugh:

You can count me in to the Czar and gth group who hate your stupid avatar. No offense, but you need a new one. Something sports related would be nice. I hear you talking about Taylormade clubs, maybe you should put something like that up there.

Actually I was making a joke since my avatar doesn't have anything to do with gt...or football...and it certainly hasn't been anything of quality the past three years. I don't really mind GSU's avatar.

I do. It's stupid.

That gives me an idea! We should have a stupidist avatar contest where everyone choses an avatar and we all vote on whose is the stupidist!

Honestly? Syracuse was 3-9 last year...

Man! You guys kill me with the inability to infer a general concept and to understand plain english. As definined by webster, decent means: "fairly good, adequate, satisfactory". From Jeff Sagarin's 2008 rankings of all D-1 NCAA teams, Syracuse was ranked 104 of out 245. When taken in perspective to the fact that there are also 148 D-II football teams and 199 D-III football teams it would seem reasonable to believe that a ranking of 104 out of 592 could be considered "decent" or "fairly good". 99.99% of people in this country could not play QB for a single of those 592 teams. And of that .01% of people who can, he is still roughly in the top 20% of them.

So many you guys are a bunch of jealous, nit-picky, arrogant haters that want to do nothing but call people out and not give credit where credit is due. The kid played at one of the best BBall programs in the country, and now after a 5 year hiatus, he's earned a starting spot one of the better (by that I mean top 20% of all college teams) college football teams in the country. It's admirable and I personally am not afriad to admit that I am impressed.

I'm impressed too. I think that some people on these boards read stuff like computers. They can't read deeper into the meaning of what you are saying. It's honestly like some of the people are simply fact checkers. They just read through post after post to find things that they disagree with (it's like pseudo-trolling).

You're obviously focusing on it being impressive to start at QB at a well-known school, Syracuse (after not playing football since HS). But instead, they critique the fact that you said Syracuse is decent. Then they go google Syracuse football records and start spitting out stats at you to discredit your statement that Syracuse is decent, etc.

You know someone has a valid point to express when they start it off with "As defined by webster...."

Not to say I'm not impressed by what he's doing. I think everyone is(although it remains to see how well he will play.) But it's definitely not the same thing as if he had walked onto a truly "decent" team(ie a GT or a Clemson or even a UNC) and took the starting job there. It's just not. Syracuse is at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to major college football.

So they are a decent college football team but a sh!tty D1-A team. I think it is yet to be decided if this is desperation or if he is worth a crap. It is not like he was all-world at Puke. Did not start for a weak (by their standards) team as a senior.

It is more than a leap in my opinion to call a team finishing last in the Big East, unquestionably the worst BCS conference, decent.
