5 legit reasons Georgia Tech might disappoint in 2009

Definately should have stopped at four, I cant even fathom CPJ snapping at the media.... that is just not his style. He is too big of a person to behave like a scolded child in front of newsmedia

It's not?

Wagner (reporter): Can I ask you something without making you mad?

Johnson: Maybe. I don't know.

Wagner: I was talking to a Navy fan and he said he follows the coverage and that he noticed something and I'm just going to put it to you. He says that it seems like when Navy loses you blame the players, i.e. we can't execute fundamental plays, but that the success of the team the last four years has been attributed to brilliant coaching. How do you respond to that?

Johnson: Whatever he thinks. I don't go down to McDonald's and start second-guessing his job so he ought to leave me alone.

A very funny quote, but still.

When I think of snapping.. I think about episodes like Hal McCray, Jim Mora Sr, Herm @ the Jets.. etc.. people obviously losing their cool, not someone putting a dip s#$^ reporter in his place

I can totally see PJ opening up a can of whoop-a** on some reporters. But I don't think that will affect his coaching one bit and to think it does makes no sense.

Too bad they didn't run a story like this before UGA's season last year when they were supposed to be world beaters.

At least he got this right:
Beat me to it.

Half of his premises seem just plain wrong, but that's nothing new. #4 irks me, because it's not Josh's fault that Bebe Thomas seems to have hands made of warm lard. I saw more drops then I saw bad passes.

I would summarize all these anxieties into one thing:

If Nesbitt gets hurt, we are in big trouble. And I thought that before Jaybo got hurt.
He is the prototype to run this offense. I don't think we can beat VT, or UVA or FSU with Jaybo, Tevin or Sims or whoever else.

As for his number 5, in my mind I'd see Johnson telling people to "wait and see" and beat the ever-living **** out of the next opponent.

His offense traveled with him wherever he went. It has borne all sorts of aliases, but he simply calls it “the option.” He had dominated the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, that is, the championship of the three military academies. He took Navy teams to bowl games, an experience that had escaped the Middies for several seasons. He won the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award, and pretty soon he was coaching in the stadium that bore the Dodd name, and so, here we are. Same man, same coach, same offense and a similar result.

from the furman bisher article. it's a good one. sent it to both my folks to get them ready for the season.

I think Mark woke up thinking it was Tuesday, wandered into the AJC around 10:45 am covered in Krispy Kreme dust when the ED reminded him that the Wednesday column would be due in 15 minutes.

I think that they are all weak.

Jaybo's collarbone isn't going to be that big of a deal. Washington is a helluva lot better at backup than Shaw. I just don't see why everyone is sooooo sold on Jaybo. YES, he made it happen last year, but it's not like he was AWESOME. He managed against Duke and MSU ... WOW, but he almost gave the game away against FSU and looked AWFUL against UNC. IMHO, he's an avg player that saw what is going to be the majority of his college playing time in those 4 games.

The trap games. I think any road game in a Major Conference can be a trap game for teams. That's why you don't play ONE SEASON, you play 12 ONE GAME SEASONS. If you're looking forward to 3 weeks down the road, then you're already failing on the mission at hand

Special Teams...well, it's too early to tell and if we're kicking off a lot then that means we're scoring a #$%& load of points. I think we'll be fine and we've got a smart coach that's made that a MAJOR point of interest in the offseason

Nesbitt is going to be a lot better at passing. Most of his throws were scrambling due to the inexperience of the O Line. Don't forget that this kid was the GA Player of the Year as a SR QB and did A LOT of passing in highschool.

Any good coach is Self Assured. He's so self assured he took a team that was picked to win 3-4 games to 9 wins that included Preseason (since so many love those polls) #1 UGAy, Top 10 Clemson, Top 20 FSU, Miami and almost BCS Bowl winner VT on the road

Bradley can blow me....and Mark Richt while he's at it

Whatever excuses apply to Nesbitt also apply to Jaybo.

And there's no reason to believe that Jaybo won't be better as well.

Paul Johnson is sold on Jaybo Shaw enough to make him #2 and to remark numerous times on how well he had been playing before the broken collar bone. But I'm sure this Nuff Said guy knows more than Paul Johnson.
