I predict ....
The buyout will become irrelevant by the time it's affordable.

What might happen before then could include a wholesale realignment to create a smaller pool of programs eligible to compete in a new 24+ team playoff. i.e. a complete realignment of a new "top tier" FBS division.

The viewing numbers and profitability are likely to change as well. How much more money can they squeeze out of this thing? Disney has been struggling. There have been major shakeups at ESPN and I suspect that will continue. There has been talk of selling off ESPN. That would likely lead to major changes.

It would seem that things are "evolving" so quickly at this point that things are likely to look very different in a few short years.

I don't even think the SEC will last as the SEC. How long are you gonna carry Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri in football?

Yeah...this is the kind of thing that I think could blow it all up.

The Bama's, Ugagers, Texas's, etc. likely figure they deserve more. They get the ratings. They sell the most advertising from the ratings. They likely figure they deserve more of the pie.

It's only a matter of time before some program pulls an FSU and starts rocking the boat. I suspect sooner or later the other conferences will follow a distribution model similar to what the ACC has now adopted. It's probably already on their radar.

Greed is never far beneath the surface. In any event, there will be more upheaval to come.

And the SEC has no exit fee. Nothing stopping Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, LSU from deciding to break away from the SEC and team up with Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Southern California, Oregon and breaking away from NCAA football. Maybe that is what Clemson and FSU are hoping for. That and an invite.

I honestly can't think of a single reason why the SEC would add either CU or F$U. I think they are actually better off not adding them.

I was listening to Senator Tubberville being interviewed on a podcast, and Tommy said the colleges are leaving Billions on the table by not doing a comprehensive NFL style contract for all Division 1 football programs. Splitting it up by conference gives more leverage to the networks.

So he recommends unionizing?

You'll know it is about to happen when a CFB league is incorporated and Tuberville and Pelosi go in big.

I feel the same. You can live without Tallahassee and you can actually break Clemson.

Georgia Tech is a pearl floating in the cesspool of the ACC.

Georgia Tech has no real value to the SEC except to keep the B1G from planting a flag in the south. I don't see the B1G bypassing GT to add FSU or CU; but I could see the B1G adding both GT and Miami, or GT and UCF. After this year's UGA game I hope we don't end up back in the SEC because we would be kept beneath UGA by the SEC for decades. There is simply no reason for the SEC to let GT become more than another Vandy with more GT losses to UGA via bad officiating whenever necessary. B1G on the other hand would be glad to have a bad call give us a win over UGA.
