It took me a second, but then I knew, and agree
I hearby retract this line. I should not assume to know Dems intent when not explicitly stated.
For clarity of my own intent, if for no other reason than to help ensure others do not make the same mistake...
My disappointment in a particular player is AA. Specifically the blocking, but also in the running and overall execution. I hope there's an underlying reason for it that I am just not informed about as of yet. I see alot of potential in him, but the execution to date is a big concern.
Overall, we went into last year with expectations of 3-9. We had an underjacket mentality, putting guys out there with simple directives. Make your block, make your read, and give it 100% effort, and if everyone does this, we will be successful.
For this season, look at Dwyer's quote in Cajun's sig:
"There's no comparison between last year and this year in terms of how much more comfortable we are with this offense," Dwyer says. "Instead of thinking about everything we do, we're just playing. We're clicking as a unit, and that makes you play faster on the field. If we keep improving like we did during the spring we can shock the country."
Now look at his quote last night:
"We just killed ourselves," Dwyer said. "We didn't play Georgia Tech football. I think we finally learned our lesson. We realized that if we don't go out here and work hard, we're going to get our butts kicked."
This quote alone sets him as the anti-knowsho. To suggest Dwyer is knowsho or that he just quit is wrong... or I certainly do not agree with that with the evidence presented to date.
Earlier in the year CPJ said something like there are alot of us who want all the accolades, but don't want to put in the effort / work to earn them. Well folks, I'm afraid that's where we are. Expectations this year seem to include overlooking the "do the work" (blocking) we knew we had to focus on last year. We need to get it back, and fast.
The good news is, we can get better, and I think we will. I don't care how good you run. If you don't block for your teammates, you shouldn't be allowed to run while they block for you. So until AA improves at blocking, I don't think he should be running either. Last year we were a team. This year "we have too many weapons." Get Dwyer behind Cox and Roddy/Wright, and do whatever is necessary to help AA and the OL become more effective blockers, and we'll still win some big games this year.
GO JACKETS!!! Not Nesbitt, or Dwyer, or AA, or "who's your favorite player thread"...
GO JACKETS!!!
